OLY ARTS Is All About Arts Walk!

Each week this newsletter highlights three cultural events worthy of your time and money. This Friday brings one of the highlights of Olympia's cultural calendar: fall Arts Walk! Of course the latest print edition of OLY ARTS is your insider's guide, highlighting 16 visual artists you should get to know better.

In addition to events highlighted below, Saturday the eighth is a huge day for local music. Enjoy the Dover Quartet at St. Michael's Westside Church, a Summer Departs program from the Olympia Symphony Orchestra and Olympia Youth Chorus, Transcendence: Songs About Love, Life and Purpose from Masterworks, and local rock quintet Swoon at McCoy's Tavern.

If you're a fan of local theater, Elephant & Piggie's "We Are in a Play!" continues at Olympia Family Theater, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona is in its second weekend at Harlequin Productions. Catch the antics of Harlequin's improvisational troupe, Something Wicked, in Ghosthunters: A Paranormal Improv Show. Spooky!

Welcome to Olympia's cultural street party! Your OLY ARTS newsletter is an early-autumn digest for the South Sound, Oct. 6-12:

Fall Arts Walk

Think of Arts Walk as a weekend-long street party, with live music, theatrical performances and the conversion of downtown Olympia into one big gallery. Arts Walk has grown to include hundreds of participating artists and up to 30,000 attendees enjoying the visual and performing arts in the streets of Olympia. It’s a showcase for the best of local arts and culture, and is a twice-annual spotlight event for Thurston County’s cultural calendar. Take your time and enjoy every last stop on the tour, punctuated by nibbles and drinks from Oly’s best eateries. We bet you’ll find work that’ll make you doubly glad you’re a resident of one of the Pacific Northwest’s cultural capitals.
