Baby Sensory Trial - 30 August 2013
Reserve Your Spot Now!

expatparent is pleased to announce that it has arranged for a facilitator of Baby Sensory to come to the La Cote area to do a trial class for parents/carers with their babies (up to 13 months).   The trial (reservations required) will take place at Munchkins Boutique & Cafe on 30 August 2013 at 10:30, right after our regular Morning@Munchkins.

So, what is Baby Sensory?

The Baby Sensory programme was designed specifically for parents/carers accompanied by their babies from birth – 13 months. The classes provide hundreds of development activities to stimulate the senses and help babies develop. The facilitators use a combination of original and traditional songs and rhymes to develop early communication skills with the idea that these will both delight and surprise you and your baby.

Full Baby Sensory classes last for 1 hour and always start with their “Say Hello” song during which parents/carers use simple sign language to communicate with
their baby.    Not only do parents learn new signs but also babies do too as they naturally love expressive movement!  The “say hello” warm up is followed by sensory activities which parent/carer and baby enjoy together.   These shared moments are precious too and will give you a wealth of ideas to try at home.

The class also has an exploratory free play time where babies can explore the baby activity area which will have a range of equipment specifically selected and brought to the class to stimulate the senses and help with development.  During this time, parents/carers have the opportunity to talk to the other participants.   Each class ends with further sensory experiences for baby.

Some of the sensory activities used in class include fibre optic light shows, bubbles, bells, musical fun, baby signing, puppet shows, amazing light balls and more!  The activities vary each week so there is always something new to discover.   Throughout the programme, you will discover a magical underwater world, explore a tropical jungle, journey into space and even become baby pirates!’

Childcare Part 4
Nanny Pros & Cons

Now that we’ve shared on this blog a bit about your choices for childcare (Parts 1 & 2) and the legal aspects of hiring in-home help (part 3), it’s time to discuss the Pros and Cons when hiring in-home help (specifically nannies).

Tanya Jeannet, owner of Rockmybaby Nanny & BabySitting agency has compiled this list, to help parents make informed choices about the kind of care they need.

Activities & Events

La rentrée is only a week away (at least for kids in Public School in Vaud), which means it's time for our regular club activities and events to resume after a short summer break.   Starting next week we have a Ladies Night Out, being held on the evening of 28 August 2013 at the Plage de Nyon.

If you cannot make it out on Wednesday evening, how about in the morning?  Friday, 30 August 2013 Morning at Munchkins resumes.
