TCI members from Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the U.K. participated in the last meeting of the TCI Cluster Evaluation Group held in Barcelona on 19-20 May, hosted by Acció. Main outcome was the validatiation of evaluation tools: “perfect cluster” framework, guiding principles and evaluation survey questionnaire. In addition, TCI member organizations in different stages of cluster evaluation shared their experiences. All workshop material is available on the event's page.

TCI 2016: learn, discuss and engage with peers during Cluster Tours

Actividad  

From the very start of the conference, you can explore clusters in and around the Brainport region. Cluster managers will guide you through a day of inspiring stories on cluster development, cluster cooperation and current cluster challenges. Cluster members, ranging from companies (both innovative SMEs and internationally known OEMs) to knowledge and educational institutions will add their perspectives and experiences. Each tour also has several places that are fun and interesting to visit, such as campus locations, start-up hubs, research centres or field and test labs.

TCI participates in European project to leverage cluster policies for successful implementation of RIS3

TCI is an advisory partner of the Interreg Europe project  “Leveraging Cluster Policies for successful implementation of RIS3” - CLUSTERS3 led by our member SPRI and starting in May 2016 with a first interregional workshop in Bilbao, Spain.
 
TCI will provide experiences and knowledge to the project based on its own expertise developed over the past years and will connect the project itself with the wider community of practitioners in Europe and worldwide.

TCI workshop in Singapore on cluster-based economic development in Asia

Actividad  

On 6 June 2016, a workshop will be held in Singapore jointly organized by the National Reasearch Foundation Singapore, the World Bank Group and the TCI Network, and led by our President Christian Ketels. Participants include policy makers and economic development organizations from across Asia. It aims to provide a platform to move the discussion on key issues facing Asian economies further. This could eventually lead to the creation of an Asian TCI Chapter.

Open innovation in the heart of Transylvania

TCI is one of the supporting organizations of the Transylvanian Cluster Conference, organized by the Northern Tranylvanian Clusters Consortium. The conference agenda includes five major topics: IT&C and creative industries, Energy efficiency, Agribusiness, Innovation in the furniture industry, New materials and technology.

 

New selection of academic articles on clusters

This month's selection includes an article on Cross-border regional innovation systems: conceptual backgrounds, empirical evidence and policy implications, by T. Makkonen, and S. Rohde.
