What is Solar Streets all about?
St Albans’ Solar Streets is a community solar project – district wide across St Albans, Harpenden and villages- for all home-owners and businesses to get discounted solar installations
As part of the council'sNet Zero Action Plan St Albans District Council are working in partnership with the photo voltaic installer - IDDEA Ltd - to help homeowners and businesses install discounted solar panels.
Any individual house or business in the district can apply for this discounted installation.
Q and A's session Get more info at the monthly Solar Streets webinar with Q and A's and links to videos about the scheme.
For each installation £50 is donated to help install solar on community buildings in the district.
Sustainable St Albans have negotiated that if 6 or more houses in one street participate the community fund donation increases to £75 per installation.
The council will be identifying a local community project or projects to support .
Increase the Community Fund Donation If you get 6 houses in your street to install solar you can increase the community fund donation!
Your nudge might just help persuade some of your neighbours.
1:Talk to one or two neighbours about Solar Streets.
They might know some people too....
2: Give out the details of Solar Streets
See the flyers here - and ask people to watch the online videos for more information at www.solarstreets.co.uk/stalbans
3: Gather a small group together Not more than six people from different households- have a socially distanced chat outdoors to share information and ideas about Solar Streets...look up and check your roofs are south, east or west facing!
4: Get 6 households to install solar in your street
And increase the community fund donation to £75 per house - that's £450 towards solar in a local community project - helping to build an environmentally sustainable district!
