Injunction Hearing Confirmed for Thursday July 4th 10:00 AM
Dear <<First Name>>,
Dave Cutts has reported that the BC Supreme Court Registry clerk has confirmed that the City of Nanaimo's application to the court for a "preventative" injunction "to stop person(s) or groups from allowing the identified life safety risk to remain in place through deliberate efforts to delay or halt the removal of either dam" will be heard at the 35 Front Street Courthouse at 10:00 AM Thursday July 4th. "Be there at 9:15 if you want a seat!" says Dave on the Save the Colliery Dams Facebook page.
As you may know, Dave is named personally on the application as are all the rest of us as "John and Jane Doe".
As this application proceeds both the Snuneymuxw First Nation and the Colliery Dams Park Preservation Society have issued news releases in support of a collaborative process to resolve the crisis. Nanaimo-North Cowichan MLA Doug Routley has also offered his support for and help with an inclusive process. At this point the City of Nanaimo has not issued a comunique expressing interest in and support for a dialogue with the stakeholders.
Colliery Dams Park Preservation Society spokesperson Jeffrey Solomon: "The Society's goals have never wavered. We wish to ensure the safety of our citizens, retain our lakes in the best way possible, at a reasonable cost. This should be a community decison including all those affected by the decison. This is achievable."
Thank you for your support!
