Interclub success
A phenomenal conclusion to the 2020 season with half of our teams snaring titles of which two were ladies teams. 21 leagues were contested which across 26 Auckland clubs equates to less than 1 pennant per club. To pick up 3 reflects impressively on the captains and players involved. Well done everyone!

Interclub outcome

W5 (1st): The team travelled to Silverdale needing to pick up 8 points against the second placed team to be sure of league success. A come from behind 5 set win for Daniella was the clincher with Sam & Bridget also posting wins. Ultimately a 6 point margin on the table and well done to these players and Helen who also played this season.
W8 (1st): This team became so feared that Henderson defaulted the last contest sadly preventing a title celebration. But well done to Shahrane'e, Amanda, Tracey & Emily on their title win by a clear 11 points.
M9 (1st): The title was already theirs ahead of the final round which was just as well as the 2 Devonport juniors playing 3 & 4 put the skids under Matt M & Hixy. .In the event good wins for Hawley & Geoff levelled the games score and our team took the night on countback by 6 points. A title secured by 11 points and well done to these 4 ever present players and the non-playing captain, Graham.
W7 (4th): Sophie's team found it hard going in a strong league but wins for herself & Janice in the last round match vs Devonport secured a mid table spot..
M4 (5th): At the time of writing the last round results remain to be posted by Henderson but the league position will be unaffected. Ernie got a team out each week but being deprived of top seed Brent for 4 rounds was a telling loss.
M11 (5th): This team led by Rhys was sabotaged by player unavailability which was in part caused by an injury to previous captain, Alex. Short by 2 players on the final night they scored just 1 point and dropped to 5th on the table.

Radical to see Sam Moore competing in the Silverdale A2 Open tournament and securing two wins with a final tomorrow, It has been some years since any of our ladies competed in a tournament other than at home and reflects the emerging competitiveness within our female ranks. I hear that Tarun is going well in the same competition.

All local tournaments can be entered via i-squash here.
