Interclub Results

A tremendous first round of interclub with 6 of our 7 teams posting wins. Great to see Mens 1 continue their winning ways without Tarun in the mix and two of our ladies teams coming out on top.

We have unexpectedly lost 3 players who we thought had confirmed their involvement as well as two ladies carrying injuries through the first 3 weeks so teams are a little light. The commitment of remaining players would be appreciated and we are always on the look out for further talent.

Tournament results

Staging our tournament earlier in the season and post-lockdown obviously paid off as we had 60 enrolments (including 19 home club players) compared to 36 last year. Entrants were spread across 9 divisions including 3 ladies divisions.

Early results were really good for us but close ones got away and in the final analysis we captured no division titles but three runner-up slots for Sean, Surya & Chris B. Sean was in a three way tie for the Div 1 title finishing joint runner-up after count back; as lowest see, Tarun did well to post a win in an entirely B grade division.

Thanks are due to Ernie for his support throughout, Sean & Tarun for managing the board over long periods, Graham for help in an assortment of ways and Sam for being our catering supremo.

Lisk Projects generously provided a cash prize pool and Stirling Sports, Glenfield supplied some gift vouchers to bolster the prize fund. The club will have raised over a $1,000 from the tournament, hearty thanks to all those club members who supported.

Roof replacement

The outcome of the on-site meeting was that the council project manager conceded that a partial roof replacement does not really make sense and a full replacement is warranted including the flat section adjacent to the tennis courts. This may stall project commencement but will be a better outcome for both tennis and squash clubs.

Our sponsors have generously offered to part-fund bringing the cost down to approx $40. There will be the options of polo shirts for men and polo shirts or singlets for the ladies.
