Interclub update
Bad news from Squash Auckland being the cancellation of the Winter 2 interclub competition with 6 rounds to go and replacement with a 7 week Spring pennant. Planned start is no later than 18th Oct and I've contested the wisdom behind the move particularly given the re-work by all parties. Guess we'll see where we go from here but I think the success of our ladies in the Winter league has been for nothing.

AGM outcome
Thanks very much to those who attended our AGM. Regrettably we received no further nominations for committee or project roles but our gallant committee of Sam, Graham, Tracey and myself were all re-elected. Thank you very much to those individuals for their continuing work on behalf of the club.

COVID membership rebates
The AGM ratified the committee recommendation that, in lieu of membership fee refunds, a credit will be taken forward and applied against the 2021/22 membership year except in cases of hardship. Once there is further clarity more info will be forthcoming and affected members will be welcome to apply then for a refund.

Club room renovations
The AGM also approved a modest spend on the club room to bring it into the 21st century and the committee are progressing some outline ideas to make it a more welcoming space.

World Squash Day - 9th Oct (could be postponed)
We are planning a full day of action on our courts from 8 - 8 providing everybody with a chance to swing back into action. We are asking you, however, to support others who may be more fortunate than yourself by making a contribution to the Mental Health Foundation. This cause has been adopted by Squash NZ for the event and in our case we are suggesting a court hire fee ($20). We've set a target of $1,000 and I see that $208 has already been donated ahead of court bookings becoming available. Click here to find out more details and to contribute.

Guess we are now waiting on the PM's announcement next Monday on the next lock down level and I'm not overly optimistic, particularly given 45 new cases today. I'm sure that we're all helping the cause by getting vaccinated and I guess we just have to hope that the right decisions are made and life returns to closer to normality soon.
