Squash Auckland Excellence Awards win
Congratulations to our Women's 1 team who won Team of the Year at the recent Squash Auckland Excellent Awards. I always felt that there was only one team in it and well done Sam, Catie, Daniella, Siri, Sophie & Laura on a fine achievement.

Sadly we didn't win Club of the Year which went to North Shore again after their most recent win in 2017. It does seem that this is the domain of the larger flagship clubs but for a club of our stature I feel we can be proud of our achievements in the year to Sept 2021.

Lockdown update
I'm very sorry that our doors remain closed with no prospect of opening under current regulations. Please read below our plans for a club COVID policy and respond if you'd like to provide your own input.
Other activities
A reminder of a few options out there;
  • Tennis: A reminder that the public courts outside the club are free to book or you can pay $10/ hour should you want a confirmed booking or floodlights.
  • Schools are back: And I'll bet our junior parents are overjoyed about that!
  • Refs exam: Why not get this done before life gets fully back to normal? And if you want to take your knowledge to the next level check out the World Squash Officiating site here.

The committee will be meeting this Thursday evening to address the issue of a Vaccination policy which will be required if the club is to open under both red and yellow traffic light settings. We are taking note of the approach of other clubs in the absence of binding advice from Sport NZ and Squash NZ and conscious that we need to have a clear policy in place well ahead of re-opening.
Our policy will be resolved by the committee and not put to a vote but if you would like to have your views considered please respond to this e-mail before 6pm Thursday or call me on 0274 379 423.

If there are any other matters you would like the committee to consider the same approach applies.

I think we have run out of weeks to host further interclub this year but it's still likely that we will run our usual Club Champs in December, maybe in an extended fashion..

New members & grade improvements

Not much opportunity for change.

A ray of hope from the stand-up today with the  borders opening on Dec 15th. In advance of that the PM has hinted at a lightening of regulations that I hope will enable squash clubs to re-open. Guess we'll have to stay hopeful and hope for a move to Level 2 ahead of the border opening .

Trust that the  kids enjoyed catching up with their mates today.

Best regards
