Partners show their support to Oxford AHSN
There is genuine excitement around what can be achieved by the Oxford AHSN and its partners, according to Oxford AHSN Chair Nigel Keen.
Since the AHSN was funded last autumn, considerable progress has been made in establishing the team, developing the governance structures and establishing the programmes to support improvements in care, clinical innovation adoption and wealth creation.
Nigel was speaking after the first AHSN Partnership Board meeting on 27 March which was attended by representatives from around 30 of the AHSN’s partners including NHS providers, NHS commissioners, academia and business.
“M omentum is building strongly,” said Nigel, pictured right. “I was really encouraged by the enthusiasm and wonderful support from a wide range of organisations wanting to translate products into practice. It’s a very exciting time.”
The Partnership Board signed off the Business Plan for 2014/15, noting the plans across the programmes and themes. Importantly, they also agreed that partners should make a financial commitment to the Oxford AHSN.
The role of the Partnership Board is to oversee the Oxford AHSN Board and ratify its strategy and Business Plan. Partners are drawn from a number of stakeholder groups including all NHS providers and commissioning bodies, the nine universities based within the Oxford AHSN’s borders, industry organisations, Local Enterprise Partnerships and key bodies such as Health Education Thames Valley and the Area Team of NHS England. |
