Scholarships Make an Impact

South Central College North Mankato Campus Foundation recently awarded more than $275,000 in scholarships to 300+ deserving students. The John Votca auditorium was filled to capacity with recipients, donors, parents and guests. Scholarship recipients come from all walks of life, and they each have their own aspirations and dreams, but they have one thing in common: they are all very deserving of their recognition. Check out the link to all the smiling faces of recipients!

Students were selected for their awards by a committee of community members who read and scored the applications submitted by students. The decisions were not easy, but the financial assistance provided to hundreds of students was definitely worth the effort!

Scholarships are funded by businesses and individuals throughout the region. “We are grateful for the generous support our students receive from the community,” said Tami Reuter, Executive Director, South Central College North Mankato Campus Foundation.

Community readers will be needed for the next round of scholarship applications. Please contact the SCC Foundation Office to learn more about how you can help on either the North Mankato or Faribault Campus.

A Strong History of State and National Winners

Data Processing students from the class of 1975 represented Mankato Vo-Tech (now South Central College) in the Office Education Association state competition, creating the early legacy of student success.  During the last academic year, SCC had state and national winners from many student organizations, including PAS (Postsecondary Agricultural Student Organization), BPA (Business Professionals of America) and Skills USA.
Pictured State Winners (from left to right): Jerry Wawrzyniak, Programmer I; John Ford, Programmer II (also a national winner); Roger Baer, Programmer II; and Bob Ausen, Programmer II.
