What Your Eye Reveals

What stands out in this iris?
What stands out in this eye is the huge orange spot.
When you have spots in the eye it is important to identify the colour — are they brown or orange? In this person’s eye, the spot is orange.

The location of the spots, known as pigments, is not as important. Unless they sit over the organ indicated by the colour they represent — that gives extra weight to the need to give that organ extra support.

In this eye, the orange pigments indicate that the person needs to support their pancreas. The pancreas has two really important roles to play. It regulates blood sugar and it produces digestive enzymes that help to break down foods.

Emotionally the pancreas represents sweetness and digestion of life. Frequently those with orange spots will suffer mood swings and cravings for sugar, alcohol, or sweets or something that will stimulate their energy. It is also important to look at self-esteem issues, and how much joy and fun the person is having in their life.

The brown pigments (which the one located at 12 o’clock is) represent liver health. The liver has many roles to play in the body. Symptoms that may indicate the liver needs attention include:
  • Anger
  • Irritability
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Hormonal issues and Premenstrual syndrome
  • Poor fat absorption
  • Poor alcohol tolerance
  • Abdominal bloating and flatulence
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Fatigue
  • Constipation
  • Yellowing of skin
  • Dark skin spots on face and hands
  • Red nose
  • Bad breath and bitter taste in the mouth
  • Thick coating on the tongue
  • Allergies and chemical sensitivities
From an emotional iridology point of view, the pigment recommends that the person is a thinker, achiever, academic and has a very strong logical mind.

Stress Reduction Tip - Head to Nature

This month let’s focus on being in nature and going outside. Nature is amazing and helps to restore our body to peace and calm. In today’s hustle and bustle world, it is so important to have time away from the concrete jungle.
Head to nature to help you feel at peace or for healing. A walk in the bush or a natural setting can do wonders for how we feel. Many find being close to water is very beneficial and is soothing to the mind. Just think how you feel if you go for a walk down the beach or river or even a park that has a water feature.
Or perhaps you love the bush and being around trees and get invigorated if you can spend some time in a park or in the country.
It can make the world of difference to you if you book regular trips to the country and go for a walk in the bush. Research shows that getting active outside improves self-esteem, improves mood and reduces tension. Consider going outside at lunchtime — it is too easy for us to stay at our desks and not see the outdoors. Find a park and go enjoy your lunch there — it will pick you up and help you face your afternoon workload
Find a park, go to the beach, the river, the bush, any place that will make your heart sing. Sit in the shade of a tree, hug a tree, plan a picnic, paddle in the water, go for a walk or fly a kite. There are so many things to do.
A new trend that is taking the world by storm is ‘Forest Bathing’. It is the practice of taking a short, leisurely visit to a forest for health benefits. The practice originated in Japan where it is called shinrin-yoku. The practice is claimed to benefit physically as well as mental health.
Most of us think of a sweaty hike when we think of a trip to the woods. Forest bathing is set at a much slower pace and is focused on fully experiencing the nature around us. It isn’t about covering a set distance, raising your heart rate or even about the exercise. Studies have found that the practice of forest bathing has many benefits, including:
  • Boosting the immune system and helping the recovery from illness
  • Improving heart health, decrease blood pressure and reduce pulse rate
  • Protecting against diabetes and obesity
  • Improving energy and sleep patterns
  • Improving your mood
  • Decreasing inflammation and relieving sore muscles
  • Improving skin
  • reducing stress-hormone production
  • Improved overall feelings of wellbeing
It is important for you to find your place in nature, where you love to go and go there often.

Skype Appointments

Skype appointments have now been recognised as a valid way of conducting an appointment by my professional association and as such are now available. They need to be booked like a normal appointment and charges are the same.
You will need to check with your health fund as to whether you will get a rebate for a Skype appointment. A Skype appointment can allow you the luxury of having an appointment in your own home and it can be a great way to get back on track when timing can make a physical appointment difficult. If you would like to book a Skype appointment please email me so that we can set this up.

Brain Health

Whilst Alzheimer’s disease affects adults older than 65 years, 5% of those diagnosed are in the 40-50 age range and are classed as early onset dementia.
This month’s Brain health tip is to reduce your exposure to heavy metals and we are going to focus on Aluminium.
Aluminium has often been linked to Alzheimer’s disease, autism and breast cancer and research has shown conflicting findings. Some studies show increased levels of trace elements of aluminium in the brains of people with dementia, while others do not.
Aluminium is the most widely distributed metal on the planet and it’s used in the production of many everyday products including :
  • Cookware such as pots and pans.
  • Most tin cans that food is presented in
  • Aluminium foil is found in most kitchens
  • Medications such as antacids, aspirin and vaccines
  • Cosmetics and deodorants
Unlike vitamins, minerals and trace elements, the body does not need aluminium. Aluminium accumulates in the kidneys, brain, lungs, liver and thyroid where it competes with calcium for absorption and can affect skeletal mineralization.
My advice in this area is that it can’t harm you to decrease your exposure to aluminium and there is the possibility that it could be great for your health.
What can you do?
  • Swap cooking utensils to ones made from glass or stainless steel
  • Reduce your use of processed foods. In particular soft drink and foods that are presented in tin cans. Consider the packaging of all food you buy and look at ways of increasing your intake of fresh foods
  • Look at alternative cooking methods that do not require aluminium foil, or place it on the outside of baking paper
  • Look at swapping your deodorant to one that is aluminium free. There are many now available. Aluminium is very good as an-antiperspirant, and you may initially need to apply your new deodorant several times a day. Now is a great time to swap over as the weather is cooler. I personally have found that the Fresca to be effective and the Rose one smells great

If you are struggling with your memory or have a family history of dementia come along and talk to me about what you can do to keep your brain in good health. You can book your appointment online

Essence of the month - Oak

Oak is the essence for those who feel like life is a struggle. The person in need of Oak essence feels like they are pushing against a wall all the time and can’t break through for that break that they need. Their life is filled with a struggle that they can’t see a way through.
I often think Oak trees in Australia depict this very well, it seems like it is hard for them to grow easily in the conditions with the Australian heat and humidity, and they do not flourish as they should.

If you would like to combine work and fun again, or even life and fun then Oak is the essence for you. It allows you to take that step back and see that you can just go another way to get through that wall you are pushing yourself against.

A renewal blend can consist of Oak combined with:
Hornbeam — for procrastination
Walnut — to help you feel safe whilst you make the changes you need to in your life
Chestnut bud — to help you stop making the same mistakes day after day
Mimulus — for the fear that may keep you stuck in the rut

Flower essences are amazing as they help us address emotional issues that take the zest and joy out of our lives.

You can use a single essence or combine up to five in a dosage bottle.

If you would like a renewal blend please send me an email —

Question of the Month

Q: I am travelling overseas. How do I stay Gluten free?
A: Whether we are travelling for fun or work, or staying in luxury accommodation or camping, you want your food experience to be a good one. When you’re following a gluten-free diet the concern is always about contamination of food.

There are several things that will help:
  • Take your own food
  • Always have some snacks available. Pack bars or fruit to carry with you in your day bag. Pack more supplies like your favourite biscuits and snacks like fruit and nut if you are going for longer trips
  • If you are staying with family or friends, talk to them before you go so they know what you can and can’t eat. Be specific, many people think eating gluten-free just means you don’t eat bread
  • If you are going on a cruise or part of a tour make sure you make your dietary requirements known when you book
  • Pre-order any airline meals, most have gluten-free options available
  • Check out forums and online groups for recommendations for eateries for where you are going
  • Download the app Gluten free cards. It explains what your food requirement is and is written in many different languages
  • Take some toaster bags with you. Toaster bags allow you to use any toaster, you just pop your bread in the bag before putting it in the toaster and it stops your bread being contaminated by crumbs
  • Ask questions and ask more if you are unsure
If you are concerned about an up and coming trip, book in to see Caroline and have a chat about what you can do if you do accidentally get exposed to gluten. Have fun and enjoy your adventures.
