Free Solar Energy Tours

Our Solar Panel Tours are up and running!

Next one on August 20th at 5:30 PM at the MEC rooftop.

RSVP at gosolartour.eventbrite.ca to save your spot!

These solar panels were installed in June by Bullfrog Power, Canada's leading green energy provider, Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC), Canada's leading outdoor retailer, and the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC), the oldest environmental non-profit in BC. The array generates about 7 kwh per day, and over 2,900 kwh annually. It has enough power to run a modest energy efficient household.

Join our Go Solar Tour this summer to learn how to move away from fossil fuels and move towards renewables, to make your home or building solar ready, to identify different types of solar panels, to determine the costs and savings associated with installing solar panels and especially how to integrate solar energy into a building.

Mid-Week Farmers Market
Local produce on Thursdays in Kits - #WCFMarket

Mark, from Barefoot Farms

On July 3rd we celebrated the kick off to this year`s Westside Community Food Market, which runs every Thursday from 3-7pm on the corner of 8th & Vine in Kitsilano. The market, which runs until September 25th, and is co-hosted by SPEC and Kitsilano Neighbourhood House, aims to make local and sustainably produced food accessible for all. Come and meet your neighbours and pick up fresh local produce, baked goods and a lot more.

NEXPERTS - New this summer, the market is hosting a series of "Nexperts" - your Next-Door Neighbourhood Experts - who present and share their knowledge and skills on topics such as healthy diets on a budget, green smoothies, composting at home, food and emotions, and more.

Follow us on Facebook and Twitter (hash tag #WCFMarket) and check out the new video!

See you there!
