Meridian Fire Department Seeks Applicants for Student Scholarships

MERIDIAN - The Meridian Fire Department is seeking applications from Meridian students for two $500 scholarships in honor of late Meridian Firefighter, Brandon Erickson. The scholarships are funded by the Brandon Erickson Memorial Scholarship Fund which was created to honor Erickson who died in 2013 after complications from surgery to repair a back injury sustained on duty. Erickson passed at the age of thirty-six (36), after serving with Meridian Fire Department for five years. Read more about Brandon Erickson HERE.
“Brandon dedicated his life to serving others and would be honored to assist students in reaching their goals to do the same,” said Meridian Firefighter Jerin Jones. “We appreciate each student’s desire to further their education and career in our industry, they are the future of public safety.”
Eligible applicants for the 2021 scholarships must graduate from high school in Spring 2021 with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants will also be required to begin college in Fall 2021 with a major in fire science, fire administration, an approved paramedic program or paramedic science program. These scholarships are coordinated and funded by the Meridian Fire Fighters Local 4627.

Completed applications can be emailed to or mailed to: PO Box 762 Meridian, ID 83680 and must be postmarked by Saturday, May 1, 2021.
