News from the Studio
Despite a few snowflakes occasionally falling, spring is on its way here in Kimberley! I am beginning to get ready for my busy summer season and looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
Upcoming news is that my paintings will be published in the 2017 Kootenay Rockies Art Calendar. I have been involved with these calendars in past years and they were a great success. It has been fun working with Blue Heron Art based out of Victoria. Check out what the month of May will look like:
The calendars will be available soon but they do sell out quickly so please send me an email for information on pre-ordering your copy. The 2017 Kootenay Rockies Art Calendar sells for $20 CND and as always, for my loyal customers there is no tax and free shipping in North America! Order your copy now so that you don’t miss out!
The paint has been flying and my recent commission is nearly finished. It still needs a few more strokes but I needed to take a break so that I can come back to it with fresh eyes to make it the best it can be.
In the meantime I pulled out a big beautiful blank canvas. My first art teacher taught me that the real thrill for an artist is the excitement of a blank canvas and I couldn’t agree more! This is what is happening in the studio at the moment:
Painting from the Vault!
I am lucky to live in a truly beautiful part of the world. Island Lake is only a 2 hour drive from my Studio. I painted on location there in 2003 and then returned to the Studio to do a large painting of the view of the lake. That trip has continued to inspire paintings to this day. If you get the opportunity to visit this part of Canada please go!

In my last newsletter, I announced my upcoming “Painting in Oils” 6 week class that will take place at Centre 64 Art Gallery. Much to my surprise the class sold out in only a few days! I now have a waiting list for my next class that will take place in September. Please email me if you would like to be placed on the waiting list for the fall class. This is my first time teaching a group of students so it will be fun!
Private art lessons are still available here in my Studio Gallery. If you are interested in learning to paint in oils and would like to book a one on one lesson, please contact me to find out more and to set up a time.
My artist friend George Hogg (no relation) is exhibiting his paintings at Centre 64 Art Gallery in Kimberley. I went to the opening on Saturday and I do recommend it!
