News from the Studio
Is it me or did October just fly by? Wow! The month started out with a road trip to meet up with my Swiss friends who were visiting Canada. It was an awesome time because I had not seen them since I was in Switzerland 21 years ago! Can you imagine? True friendships do last a lifetime and I am grateful to have good friends all over the world. The trip filled me with inspiration because of the love and friendship, but also by the stunning autumn colours on the beautiful drive through the mountains. I arrived back at the Studio with an abundance of creative energy. Here’s what the Studio has been looking like lately with the fall sunshine streaming in:
Christmas came early for me here at the Studio. First I received a huge art order that will get me through the winter months. For me there is nothing more beautiful than a fresh stack of blank canvases, full tubes of luscious oil paints and clean new brushes. I wonder what will fall out of those brushes and wind up on the canvases? So many possibilities!
The other gift that recently arrived was a brand new computer. This gift however had it’s drawbacks…as I’ve had to spend the last couple of weeks cleaning out my old computer and then trying to make the adjustment from the old Microsoft to the new iMac. Everyone warned me that there would be an adjustment period but all I really want to do is get back to the easel. Due to technical issues, the newsletter is being sent a bit later than normal but hopefully it will look ok!
As I mentioned, the paint was flying after my recent trip and I had a great time working with my palette knife…it really loosens me up. This painting was the result:
'Color & Light', oil on canvas, 18"X14", available for sale from www.capriceartstudio.com . No tax and no charge for shipping in North America.
I was able to finish off a commission that I have been working on for months. I had to wait until just the right time to put the finishing strokes on this painting and the patience really paid off. Normally I do not share paintings in my newsletter until the clients have seen it but this one is an exception. The clients saw the painting in progress in August and have seen digital photos of the completed painting. Here's what my client wrote when she saw the photo:
“As I scroll down to look at the painting, emotions overwhelm me. It is BEAUTIFUL! Words cannot describe how beautiful 'My Mother's Garden' is. I think I will be spending many hours just staring at it when it arrives into Winnipeg”.
'Mother's Garden', oil on canvas, 30"X48", private collection, Winnipeg, Man. www.capriceartstudio.com
This painting is of my client’s mother’s garden and has many special memories. I am privileged to be able to put those memories on canvas for her and I am grateful that she trusted me with such precious moments of her life. For anyone interested in commissioning a painting, please contact me to discuss the details!

Paintings from the Vault!
In honour of Remembrance Day, I am posting a painting of the first poppies I ever painted, back in 2000. That's when I found out how much I love to paint poppies...such a beautiful flower.

Stay in Touch
Thank you to everyone for writing to me…I do love to hear from each of you. My apologies if I do not always reply right away especially this past month with my computer problems. Please do keep the letters coming. If you have any questions regarding my paintings, commissions, lessons or anything at all, do not hesitate to ask.
Caprice Fine Art & Co Studio Gallery in Kimberley will not be open in November. This will give me plenty of time to get work done for the upcoming Christmas Season and to continue working on current commissions. If you would like to visit the Studio during the month of November, please drop me an email and I will be available to meet with you. Visitors are always welcome!
