News from the Studio

As an artist I do long for those days of uninterrupted time at the easel with my music on and the paint flowing.  Does that ever really happen for any artist?  Somehow life often has other plans.  It's not for lack of trying, as I closed the Studio for the month and luckily my friends understood when I said "sorry I can't visit today".  November not only brought cold temperatures and snow...but here at the Studio we also wound up with a broken furnace!  One thing lead to another and we had no heat for almost two weeks.  Yes.  Chilly is an understatement.  Not much painting happened during that time, but it gave me the opportunity to sit at my desk in the sunshine in front of the portable heater and I managed to finish all of my year end books.  Not wanting to leave the warmest spot in the house was good enough motivation to actually do accounting!
I also took some time to do a bit more writing for my blog and I look forward to your feedback!  This time, I went down memory lane to reminisce about the time I spent with my mentor and friend, Shane Garton.  Please click here to view my latest post.  Keep in mind that my blog is featured online with stories to help you understand how I became the artist that I am today, which differs from my newsletter that is emailed to you monthly with current news and paintings.

Once our furnace was fixed and I was warm again I began working on a few smaller paintings to get back into the groove.  So yes I have some new paintings available that would make a perfect gift for a special person in your life...or for yourself perhaps?  Please note that repeat customers will receive a 10% discount.  There is no tax and free shipping is available in North America.  If you require your painting to be shipped, please order soon to guarantee delivery before Christmas.  Click here to view all available paintings for sale.  Purchases can be made via Paypal, cheque, email money transfer or cash.  Original Caprice paintings are sold exclusively from Caprice Fine Art & Co. My newsletter wouldn't be complete without a new mountain painting:

Happy Holidays!

This newsletter marks the one year anniversary of the Caprice Fine Art & Co. INewsletter.  I began writing this letter to share my latest paintings and news, but also to share my passion for art with you.  I had no idea how rewarding it would be and I am grateful that people take the time to not only read the letter, but also to write or call.  Art is my life and I am thrilled to have this new creative way to share it with you.  Some of you have been here since the beginning and others have joined along the way; either way I am glad to have you with me now.
At this time of year, I always look forward to visitors to the Studio.  The Studio Gallery will be open most days in December from 11:30am to 9pm, but just in case, please drop me an email to ensure I will be here.  If you are in Kimberley please stop by for a visit.  We are open evenings so you can pop by after a day of fun on the ski hill.
I wish you all a very happy and safe Christmas, filled with love and of course, great art!

Book of the Month

by Ulrike Becks-Malorny

I studied the work of Kandinsky after meeting my mentor Shane Garton (please click here to read my blog post about Shane).  Kandinsky's book "Concerning the Spiritual in Art" is another good read...and one that inspired Lawren Harris of the Group of Seven.  All artists truly are connected, aren't they?
