Dear <<First Name>>,

We can’t believe Publishing University was just two weeks ago! Over the course of two days (April 8-9), IBPA proudly presented 24 unique and informative breakout sessions, offered over 460 fifteen-minute Ask the Experts sessions with the help of 41 industry experts, and hosted the highly anticipated 28th Annual Benjamin Franklin Awards Ceremony. For those who were able to make it out to Salt Lake City, thank you very much for attending our annual conference. For those who couldn’t make it, we hope to see your lovely faces next year - register here! Check out our 2016 Publishing University Photo Album, which includes professional photos of Benjamin Franklin Silver and Gold Award winners. Here's a few snapshots of our great weekend....

Now, on with the show! IBPA members can send notice of their accomplishments (TV appearances, special mentions, book signings, etc.) to mimi@ibpa-online.org. We look forward to featuring you in a future issue!

Sincerely,

Your IBPA Staff:
Angela Bole, Terry Nathan, Mimi Le, Patti Grasso, and Joanne Kenny

Norine Dworkin-McDaniel and Jessica Ziegler wrapped up the national tour for their third parenting humor book, Science of Parenthood: Thoroughly Unscientific Explanations for Utterly Baffling Parenting Situations (She Writes Press), with stops in San Diego and Portland, Oregon, where Norine appeared on CW6’s San Diego Living and KATU’s AM Northwest. Their 23-city book tour was sponsored by Boogie Wipes, makers of saline-moistened wipes for little noses that parents absolutely adore. Science of Parenthood was recently chosen as a finalist in the 2015 Foreword Reviews’ INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards (Humor) and awarded the Gold Award in the 2016 IBPA Benjamin Franklin Awards (Parenting & Family). Norine and Jessica joined IBPA in 2015.

Cacoon of Cancer author Abbe Rolnick.
What happens when you get that dreaded phone call from your loved one, who tells you, “I have cancer?” How do you share the pain and the fear? Abbe Rolnick, author and publisher of Sedro Publishing, was recently interviewed by Steve Scher (The House of Podcast). In the 30-minute interview, Rolnick talks with Scher about receiving this phone call, which propelled her to write Cacoon of Cancer. The book looks at how life changes forever when the word cancer is uttered. The title was highlighted in Kirkus Review's indie section on Feb. 15, 2016

Award-winning author Lynn Byk.
North American Booksellers Exchange has crowned Capture Books' Mister B the 2016 Pinnacle Achievement Award Winner in the category of Memoir. The humorous memoir tells a story of a faithful homemaker who loses her house and eventually makes a new home with a reliable old space engineer. "I am hard-pressed to find another success story that gives such hope to poor children of Polish immigrants," reports Denver retired teacher and mentor Susan Summers. "It charms the bejeebies out of the Greatest Generation." Written by award-winning author Lynn Byk, Mister B is her first book for mass trade.
