Gap Year Girl author Marianne C. Bohr.
Marianne C. Bohr's novel Gap Year Girl was recently reviewed in both Publishers Weekly and Kirkus Review, the latter describing it as "an excellent choice for armchair travelers who want to see the sites but are in no particular hurry to do so." Gap Year Girl is a retelling of two married Baby Boomers who quit their jobs, sold their house, their car and most of their worldly possessions to backpack around Europe for an adult gap year. Marianne Bohr is a freelance writer and editor, who follows her own advice and travels at every opportunity. She lives outside Washington, DC where after decades in publishing, followed her Francophile muse to teach middle school French.

Poisoned Pen Press' Avoidable Contact by Tammy Kaehler has recently been named the Motorsports Book of the Year by the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association (AARWBA). In addition to winning the 2014 Motorsports Book of the Year Award for Avoidable Contact, Kaehler was also honored with the 2013 Motorsports Book of the Year Award for Braking Points. Kaehler’s series has garnered high praise from critics, readers, and racing insiders alike. Publishers Weekly has called Avoidable Contact a “snappy dialogue, a smart and affable heroine (who calls to mind auto racer Danica Patrick), and pacing reminiscent of 24 combine to make this entry as exciting as a spin around the speedway.”

Katherine Pickett accepts a Silver award in the Reference category for Perfect Bound: How to Navigate the Book Publishing Process Like a Pro.
Hop On Publishing's Perfect Bound: How to Navigate the Book Publishing Process Like a Pro by Katherine Pickett recently won gold in the Writing category of the 17th annual Foreword Reviews’ INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards. The award from Foreword Reviews is the second win for Perfect Bound. In April, the book won silver in IBPA’s Benjamin Franklin Awards in the Reference category. Pickett said, “And to have Perfect Bound, a book about the publishing process, win awards from Foreword Reviews and the IBPA, two organizations with extensive book-publishing expertise, is a tremendous recognition.”

Author and publisher Taneeka Bourgeois-da Silva had a book signing for her series, Little Kids, Big Voices, in February 2015 at Encino Charter Elementary. Her first novel, Broccoli Chronicles won the 2015 National Indie Excellence Award in Children's Fiction and has been selected as a finalist in Foreword Reviews' 2014 ‪INDIEFAB Book of the Year Award for Juvenile Fiction. Taneeka published Broccoli Chronicles through her company, Building Voices, which also offers critiquing services and writing mentorships for aspiring writers.

Tom Swyers' award-winning novel, Saving Babe Ruth, is currently a #1 Best Seller in the following 2 categories on Amazon: Baseball Essays and Writing (also #1 Top Rated) and Humorous Literary Fiction. The novel also recently won gold in the Best First Book: Fiction category and silver in the Best Popular Fiction category of the 28th annual IBPA Benjamin Franklin Awards. Based on a true story, Saving Babe Ruth is about a family headed by David Thompson, a burned-out lawyer and Civil War buff. Award-winning author Jessica James’ latest novel Meant To Be was reviewed in Publishers Weekly, which called it “an endearing page-turner,” and “sweetly sentimental and moving.” The novel, James’ first foray into romantic military suspense, was also reviewed by Foreword Magazine, and was featured in an article in the military newspaper Stars and Stripes. James is the winner of numerous national literary awards including the John Esten Cooke Award for Southern Fiction and the Next Generation Indie Book Award. Her novels can be found in more than one hundred libraries, including Harvard and at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Author and publisher Lawrence J. Bookbinder recently had his title, Win Friends and Customers: Relationship and Business Success from Empathic Acknowledging, reviewed by Midwest Book Review. It was rated as “very highly recommended for personal and community library Self-Help/Self-Improvement instructional reference collections.” As of today, its Amazon average rating is 4.8 out of 5.0 stars from 17 reviews, 11 of which were by reviewers from the Amazon Vine program.

Linchpin Bookbuilders announces the publication of two new books and one backlist title from the best-selling author Connie K. Thompson. Thompson’s non- fiction books are known for their fast-paced thrills and plot twists which follow the heroine Artie Bevaqua. The first two issues of The Angus Revelations, Book One: Angus and Book Two: Caleb, are now available in paperback ($14.95) and kindle edition ($5.99) at Thompson will release the third in the series, Book 3: Jonah, later this year.
