Welcome to Independent Publishing Now!, IBPA's monthly e-newsletter featuring the hottest news and information from IBPA and its members.

IBPA has some exciting news to share! We are happy to announce a new addition to our team: Paige Greco, IBPA’s new Administrative Assistant. Paige hails from New York City and is a current resident of Los Angeles. Before she found her way to IBPA, she worked in visual arts and created small publications of her peers’ work. In her free time, Paige writes short stories and poetry. Now that she is out west, she is slowly attempting to learn to surf. We look forward to getting to know her more. Welcome to the team, Paige!

Eileen Haavik McIntire is the co-founder of Summitt Crossroads Press and is the president of the Maryland Writers Association.
Eileen Haavik McIntire and Roger McIntire own and manage Summitt Crossroads Press and its website,, which provides tips, resources, and a bookstore for parents. Through IBPA's Frankfurt Exhibit, Summit Crossroads Press has sold their book rights to eight different countries (Germany, Korea, Thailand, Serbia, Croatia, and Brazil to name a few)! Read Eileen McIntire's recent blog, titled NEWS NOTES: July 18, 2016, which talks about foreign rights and displaying ones' book with IBPA at the Frankfurt Book Fair. But wait! The good news doesn't end here. Eileen Haavik McIntire was recently elected president of the Maryland Writers Association. Congrats, Eileen!

IBPA member Michael H. Thompson will be on a book signing tour through the Mississippi Delta (Greenville, Cleveland, Yazoo City) August 17-19, culminating in a book signing at the Mississippi Book Festival in Jackson on August 20, 2016. He will be promoting his Christian murder mystery, The Rector, which won the bronze IPPY from the Independent Publisher Book Awards and recognized as the winner for Best Religion Fiction from the National Indie Excellence Awards. The Rector is also a finalist in the Beverly Hills Book Awards and the International Book Awards contest. This has definitely been a great year for Michael Thompson - congrats!

Award-winning author Bob Lucas.
Bob Lucas' book, Make Money Writing Books: Proven Profit Making Strategies for Authors, was recently selected as a finalist in the Writing/Publishing category for the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. The book shows authors how to develop primary and residual streams of income through proven personal branding and marketing strategies that Lucas has used with his own books. Lucas is a principal at Robert W. Lucas Enterprise, has written 37 books and compilation pieces, and has been a corporate trainer and speaker for over four decades. Silent Meridian author Elizabeth Crowens.
Elizabeth Crowens is the pen name for the author of Silent Meridian, book one in the Time Traveler Professor series, an alternate history “spooky steampunk” novel published by MX Publishing in London. Recently she won an Honorable Mention in Glimmer Train’s fiction short story contest for Emerging Writers. The title is also in the shortlist of finalists for the 2016 Cygnus Award for Speculative Fiction. On June 8, 2016, her book launch was held at The Mysterious Bookshop in Manhattan, which received positive reception! Crowens will be a panelist and will sign her book at the Writer's Digest 2016 Conference and at the 2016 Queens Book Fair in NYC.

Award-winning author and licensed psychologist Frank Barbehenn.
Faith of a Father: from Torment to Trust, written by Frank Barbehenn and published by Clovercroft Publishing, recently took home the bronze medal in the Inspiration category for the 2016 Illumination Book Awards contest. It was also named a finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. Frank’s memoir explores his magnetic draw to faith and the spiritual maelstrom that drew him to a profound yet deeply conflicted journey with Jesus Christ. The author is a licensed psychologist in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, specializing in relationship and trauma therapy. He is also a Clinical Fellow with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and a Fellow with the American Psychotherapy Association.
