Eyes Wide Shut: Are You Ready to Wake Up? – Part 2

Feel like you are drifting further and further away from the “real you?” Feel like you are just going through the motions and drudging zombie-like through the day? Feel like all the dreams you once had were just an illusion?
 
If you have considered the actions suggested in [Part 1] and taken the time to stop, be still, and acknowledge your feelings, you’re now ready to explore additional steps you can take to wake up to your entire life and not just the parts that have become detours from the path you want to be walking. Now that you have begun to open your eyes, do you want to stay awake when it counts the most?

Here are some Tweaking Tips:
  • Stop resisting and let go.  A lot of the suffering and angst we experience is related to our wishing things were other than they are or wanting them to be how we remember them to have been. Accepting the way they actually are at this very moment frees us from the burden of trying to recreate the past as well as scurrying into the future.  Besides being physically exhausting and emotionally draining, resisting takes time, energy, and effort which can be channeled into forward movement of our conscious choosing. Letting go does not mean negating the reality of whatever led us to this point, but it does mean we can relax into taking what we have learned to help us see more clearly. It also allows for the space to notice and appreciate the good things we do have on a more regular basis, which often lightens the load of the baggage we have been carrying.
  • Take new actions. Ready to discover some different ways to stay awake and take advantage of the opportunities which lie ahead? Try some techniques which have been proven to help create calm, reduce stress, increase focus and concentration, and improve your health and sense of well-being. To get you started, here are few suggestions:
