Welcome to FFFD 105

Hi, how are you doing?
As most of the world seems to be coming out of lockdown I have now resumed face to face drum lessons and WOW!!!! it's been great to see and interact with people again in the same space. Have a look at the photo of my teaching studio.  Don't hesitate to get in touch if you want drum lessons.  I am still doing lessons on Zoom as well.

R.I.P. Fritz McInytre 2nd September 1958 to 24th August 2021. My friend. brother in arms and the best piano player I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Fritz was a soul mate and will be hugely missed by his family and friends and the many fans he had.We shared a large part of our lives together and stayed in touch through thick and thin. This picture was taken in Florida on Boxing day 2015 when I visited Fritz in his new found home.  He came to visit me in 2018 in England and since then, due to Covid,  we had stayed in contact by phone. Peace and Love Brother!
WHAT I HAVE BEEN PRACTICING RECENTLY
GROOVE ALCHEMY
by Stanton Moore. From New Orleans Stanton is an incredible drummer playing a cross range of styles from Jazz to New Orleans 2nd line to Funk. This book features fantastic transcriptions of drum parts from many James Brown songs featuring  drummers such as Jabo Starks and Clyde Stubblefield. Two of James Brown's greatest drummers. Also there are many songs featuring Zigaboo Modeliste, drummer for The Meters and one of the pioneers of "Linear Style" drumming.  If you play drums this book should be in your collection.
R.I.P. Charlie Watts
R.I.P. Lee "Scratch" Perry
WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING RECENTLY

WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING by Delia Owens.
Phenomenal in a word.  One of the best most touching books I have read in years. Set in the North Carolina marshes a young girls harrowing journey from childhood to adulthood. Beautiful !
WHAT I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO RECENTLY
Recorded in Sheffield, England in 1974 with Manchester's very own Dave Hassell on drums. Great songs, great singing, a swinging band and a good time was had by all.
Does anyone do live recordings these days???

FACEBOOK AND YOUTUBE

Facebook Livestreams. The truth is I have been crap at doing these recently. I did enjoy them, they were a lot of work in preparation and actually doing it but I think I did too much and I will, I PROMISE, do some again soon.

And some triplets with sticking variations to try out here. Play slowly to start keep all unaccented notes low and accented notes will pop out clear and relaxed .........ENJOY!!! and thanks.  Chris X
