Virginia does more than the minimum

Until Sunday, Virginia followed the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour; they’ve now raised that to $12 by 2023, with the opportunity to increase again to $15 in a second round. If signed by Governor Northam, minimum wages will increase to $9.50 in January of next year, benefitting hundreds of thousands of Virginians.


Stay humble, Arlington.

In these troubled times, when the stock market is taking a hit and coronavirus is making people go bananas at Costco, it looks like Arlington will weather a potential recession better than many other cities, thanks to its large concentration of federal jobs and telecommute-friendly industries—attributes which would seem to apply to DC, too.
