Wake to Washington

Know your city

To be blunt

Dreamy is a motivational speech company and we deliver free cannabis gifts right to your door. It’s that simple. Order up for the weekend!

When the game is rigged

Over the protestations of several Councilmembers, Greek gaming company Intralot won a no-bid $215 million contract to run the city’s lottery. City rules require 35% to go to a local subcontractor—which the DC Auditor just disclosed means millions go to a Maryland man and his mom, a company which “did not and cannot perform the work outlined in the subcontract agreement.”

Thousands left DC during pandemic

Our survey about pandemic experiences suggested many of you are taking a new direction in your lives—and for lots of Washingtonians, that’s literal: “More Than 9,000 D.C. Residents May Have Left Permanently During The Pandemic, Data Show.” The center of the city saw the most departures (gleaned from change-of-address filings with USPS).

“It’s a lot of love out here”

Happy scenes from Woodland Terrace, where community keystone India Blocker runs mentorship programs for kids who “have nothing to do”: a petting zoo, video games, and best of all a bounce house
