This costs black homeowners billions

The average cost of a home in a majority black neighborhood in the DMV is $48,490 less than a comparable home in a neighborhood with few to no black residents.

Making housing vouchers work

Data shows D.C. landlords are more willing to rent to voucher tenants than many other cities, even compared to cities with similar housing laws, after the D.C. Housing Authority asked landlords what would make it easier for them, they listened, and they made the requested changes.

Corruption case against Evans continues to build

“A consulting firm owned by D.C. Council member Jack Evans received 200,000 shares of stock in a digital sign company just before Evans promoted legislation that would have benefited the company by allowing it to operate in the District, emails and other documents show.” The Ward 2 representative is up for reelection in 2020.

“Visualizing the History of Fugazi”

Perhaps the most fun element of this visualization of DC’s punk legacy: the map of every DC venue where Fugazi played, including public places like the Supreme Court, the Sylvan Theater on the Mall, Dupont Circle, and Malcolm X.

  • The Messthetics, featuring Fugazi’s rhythm section, are prepping for their first album release with a show on Sunday. (7:30 pm)

Did you know you can get free corkage--that’s when you bring your own wine--at more than a handful of restaurants in the area? (We’re still not Philly.) It’s a great way to take a dinner to the next level at places like Le Grenier (on Sundays), Dino’s Grotto (Su/M/T), and all Farmers Restaurant Group locations (first bottle).

Funk v. Bluegrass

Have it both ways. Use code “730dc” with Union Stage to get a discount on their New Year’s bash featuring funk from Aztec Sun and bluegrass from the Dirty Grass Players.
