Shore Leave Festival Postponed to September 2021
The last three months have seen the Shore Leave program grow to offer a diverse and engaging showcase of Geraldton and the Midwest region. We have been thrilled to see the support and enthusiasm the community has shown for this inaugural premier event.

We want nothing more than to present Shore Leave in all its glory to visitors to Geraldton and the Midwest region. Unfortunately, the last two weeks have thrown up significant challenges.

The recent cyclone has impacted operational preparations to some Shore Leave events, such as equipment which has been rightly diverted to those people and communities that are living through the impacts of the cyclone.

The recent COVID-19 situation in the Perth and Peel regions has also had unavoidable impacts on the planning and delivery of the event. We want to ensure we deliver the best possible experience for patrons and have determined the quality and delivery of the event would be impacted in the current environment.

Therefore, after discussions with the State Government and Local Government, we have decided it is in the best interests of the event to postpone the festival until late September 2021. We understand and share in your disappointment; over numerous discussions, we came back to our original objective for Shore Leave – a high-quality festival of events that attracts visitors to the Midwest region. We weren’t prepared to compromise on these objectives and do a disservice to our guests and people from the region that have been instrumental in shaping the direction of Shore Leave.

If your desire to #wanderoutyonder is still strong, we invite ticket holders to retain their tickets as we will be communicating the new date in the next week. Ticket holders that cannot attend the new date will be entitled to a full refund. More information on this process will be sent directly to ticket holders when we announce the new date.

We want to say thank you for everyone’s support; the team behind Shore Leave will continue to develop the festival, and before we know it – September will be here, and we’ll be ready to welcome you to Shore Leave.

As communities continue the clean up after widespread destruction and damage left by Tropical Cyclone Seroja, the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund (LMDRF) has been activated.

Many homes and buildings have been destroyed and up to 30,000 residents were left without power after the cyclone made landfall as a category three storm on Sunday bringing wind gusts of up to 170 kilometres per hour.

With the LMDRF now open, we ask our community to dig deep where they can and donate to help our neighbours who need it most.

Administered by the City of Perth, the LMDRF is Western Australia’s official state emergency fund, and all funds raised as part of the appeal get spent directly on the response to Seroja.
