EFLTC Newsletter

19th February 2021

From The President

Tennis is an incredibly democratic sport. Anyone can enjoy Tennis – any age, gender, fitness, or aptitude – whether you like to play socially, competitively, in large groups or small, or just like to watch.
As a community facility, EFLTC strives to provide a welcoming environment that caters for all through initiatives like:
  • Well organised and vibrant Saturday Social Tennis
  • An energetic and fun Junior Club
  • Inter-club Pennant teams with great team and Club camaraderie
  • A variety of Social tennis groups including:
    • Narelle’s Mums & Bubs Monday mornings
    • Janine’s Monday social evenings
    • Nadia’s Tuesday social evenings
    • Ron’s Tuesdays afternoons
    • Wednesday midweek social
    • Jane’s (new) Thursday afternoons
    • Junior and Senior Pennant training Thursday afternoons
    • Peter’s Friday afternoons
  • Book-a-court for public and member casual hire
  • Court access for inter-school tennis (Santa Maria)
  • A vibrant coaching environment for new players, and existing players looking to improve their game
  • A pleasant and welcoming social and physical environment
  • A variety of special events across the year
….and I’m sure there’s more, but I’ve run out of breath 😉.

I encourage all members to appreciate and understand all that our great Club has to offer, so that if you come across someone who might like to join in (whether as a member or a non-member) you can help them discover the tennis experience they’re looking for.

Club Champs Entries Open Now
Fancy a taste of competitive tennis without the risk of having to do a cringy post-match interview with Fitzy or Casey?
The EFLTC Club Champs will be starting in early March.
We’ve designed the Club Champs draw so you’ll get a minimum of two matches in each event you enter, and your first match is likely to be against a player of similar ability.
You’ll never know if you don’t go. You’ll never shine if you don’t glow.
Entries close Sunday 28th Feb.

U15 Pennant Boys Update
Our U15 boys consisting of (L to R)  Alistair, Daniel, Marcus and Joshua had another tough round of pennants over the weekend. Playing against UWA the boys went down 6-0.
It's been a tough season for the inexperienced team, playing only in their 2nd season of pennants and having jumped 5 divisions from last year.
This however has not deterred them. They continue to train hard, always eager to play on Sunday and simply love to compete. Can't ask for more than that.
With 3 x U15 boys teams, the future looks good for the club, and it won't be long before they'll be challenging the old timers.

Welcome to our newest members!

A very warm welcome to the following newest members.
