From The President

Welcome to the New Members
It’s incredibly encouraging to see the remarkable increase in activity around the Club lately.
We’ve added around 70 new members over the last year, Hall hire is up, Court hire is up, we have more pennant teams, our coaches are flat-out and courts are often full.
It’s particularly encouraging to see the growth in the younger demographics (i.e. younger than me ;) ), traditionally difficult to attract, and vital to our long-term success.
Well done to the strategic thinkers steering the Club to success, and well done to the doers that help make it all happen.
And the warmest welcome to all the new Members.
Have a safe, and happy Easter.

Upcoming Dates For The Diary

Fancy Dress Party - 28th May

Club News

Club Champs Continue...
Upsets and super-tiebreakers were the order of the day last week, and more great matches are coming this weekend.

Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles Finals headline, and Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles action are sure to entertain (click here for the draw).

Be there at 1pm Saturday to see Peyton and
Maddie take on Narelle and Talia for the Ladies Doubles title.  I’d pay to see that!

Invitational 8
The Invitational-8 was held on Sunday with eight of our best senior players teaming up with eight of our keenest juniors. An afternoon of spirited competition, with plenty of great reflexes, skilful doubles tactics and (a few too many) trick-shots kept everyone entertained.

James Davis and Ian Rodgers won the day over a tenacious Lincoln Duckett and Daniel Hayden.
Well played everyone.
Post Tennis Pizza - This Saturday

If you feel like staying back and enjoying a slice of pizza post tennis.  EFLTC will be selling pizza by the slice @ $3.00 each. 4 varieties available, limited supply. From 5pm till sold out.

Meet A Member

One minute with...   Tim O'Leary

1.    How long have you been a member at EFLTC?  Only since December 2020 (thanks for the invitation Nadia!), but I have been driving past the club and thinking about dropping in for 30 years, so it already feels like home.

2.    What’s your favourite tennis shot? The backhand lunge volley at the return of serve. It often confuses my doubles partner, and I only rarely connect, but opponents seem to find my attempt highly amusing.

3.    What’s your Achilles heel?   There are many, but backhand needs urgent attention.

4.    Favourite tennis player? All time: Mats Wilander - so cool! Modern day: Ash Barty in the women's, and men's I can't decide between Leigh Nicholas and Lincoln Gibellini - both very elegant players and true gentleman o the court.

5.    Favourite holiday destination?  Flinders Bay near Augusta is lovely. And my partner Christiana and I can't wait to get back to NYC when the kids are a bit older.

6.    When not playing tennis, we can find you….? Longish days in the office during the week, but on weekends chasing the kids around the pool or East Freo oval or whatever else they are up to.

We love meeting our members, so please don't be shy and introduce yourself by filling out the questions along with a photo.  click here to submit.
