May 19 Vaccination Clinic for People with Disabilities

The second COVID-19 vaccination clinic for people with disabilities hosted by Toronto Public Health (TPH) and Toronto's Accessibility Task Force takes place on Wednesday, May 19 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Details and registration form.

Update Concerning Access to Dental Care and Affordable Prescription Drugs for Vulnerable Seniors

In the last ebullition the OFCP was happy to share changes to the Ontario Government dental program. We are now sharing a follow up with more information concerning application to this program. If you need any assistance or have any questions about the process please give OFCP a call or email.

The Ontario government is updating the income eligibility thresholds for the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program and the Seniors Co-Payment Program to allow more of Ontario’s most vulnerable seniors to have access to dental care and affordable prescription medications.

Starting August 1, 2021, increases to the income threshold for single adults, age 65 and older has risen to $22,200, and a couple can now earn up to $37,100 and still be eligible for the Seniors Dental Care Program. 

Applicants are eligible to apply starting July 1st to get enrolled in the program.

The Ontario Caregiver Organization: The SCALE Program

The SCALE Program begins again on May 4, 2021  

Back by popular demand, the SCALE Program (Supporting Caregiver Awareness, Learning and Empowerment) aims to empower you with practical information and skills to enhance self-awareness with a focus on your own needs and well-being. 

The program consists of: 

  • a series of eight weekly webinars
  • online group coaching
  • one-on-one, individualized telephone counselling

Select just one topic that you are interested in each week or take the entire program – as a caregiver, we understand how valuable your time is and that is why we developed a program to best suit your schedule.

United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Global Affairs Canada, in collaboration with Employment and Social Development Canada, is launching a Call for Applications for a Canadian candidate for election to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This UN Committee monitors the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Important information on the position and background on the CRPD Committee is included in the attached documents. You will also find information on how to apply, including knowledge and experience criteria.
