Dear Members of OFCP,

During these difficult times, it is more important than ever to stay connected and provide information to you that is current, relevant and useful. Our team is committed to supporting you and initiatives that will benefit our broader community.

To date, OFCP has:
  • Signed a letter of support, drafted by ARCH Disability Law Centre, calling for urgent changes to Ontario Health’s Clinical Triage Protocol for Major Surge in COVID-19 Pandemic, dated March 28, 2020
  • Signed a letter of support, drafted by Communication Disabilities Access Canada addressing the urgent need for communication supports for COVID-19 patients who have pre-existing communication disabilities and people who cannot speak due to breathing support and ventilators.
  • Launched the Life Emergency Action Fund for members to access supports/equipment  that may assist in easing some immediate pressures related to COVID-19
  • Implemented new protocols to ensure members can receive funds in a way that is secure and timely, while protecting their personal information.
  • Launched the Life Emergency Action Fund for member groups that may assist them in accessing one time dollars to better support their clients,
  • Maintained contact with  members and families, linking them to services and supports they may need, including food services, equipment and testing clinics
  • Worked with our partners to support the temporary closure of our Trusteeco, Clothing Pick Up For Cerebral Palsy (CP4CP), as they are no longer able to complete  door to door clothing pick up services. We do expect to resume the Household Pick Up services as soon as the social distancing measures end and we look forward to your continued support.
  • Provided links to other websites, forums and announcements that provide information and tips to assist you in a number of ways including personal wellness, financial and communication tool kits.
OFCP will continue to update you on a regular basis, using our social media platforms including Facebook, E-Bulletins and Twitter.

On a final note, I would like to personally express my support and commitment to you, our members, as we navigate these times together. I would like to acknowledge the strength and courage of our members, families, front line workers, essential service workers and fellow charities. Stay safe and be well.

Gordana Skrba, Executive Director (Interim)
