August 25, 2019 “It’s No Longer the Church of My Past."  Rev. Dr. Randolph (Randy) W. B. Becker
"As I sat and read accounts of the General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalism Association in June, I got to thinking about how the spiritual community I was observing seemed nothing like the religious tradition in which I grew up and served. It would be easy to quickly assume by this that I felt disenfranchised or even excluded to the point of wondering where the church of my past had gone. Come and explore with me what it means to be part of a liberal religious movement when that movement is taking turns you might not have chosen."
**CHOIR will meet at 9:30 starting this morning**

September 1, 2019 "Hope for a better future through collective bargaining." Anthony Fragapane.
Anthony is the spiritual care coordinator for Hospice of Central New York and a retired business agent for UFCW Local 1.

This program needs your support!
Your financial contribution helps support garden activities which include a pizza lunch in the garden for two cohorts of Oneida County Summer Youth Employment Program participants on their last day in the program. The fundraising goal is five hundred dollars. Checks in support of this project are to be made out to The Unitarian Universalist Church of Utica with "Urban Garden" noted in the memo section. If it your donation is in cash it should be put in an envelope designating the Urban Garden and brought to the church. A special account has been set up. This is an initiative of our Social Action/Green Sanctuary Committee and our Climate Action Sub Committee, with the support of our board.

The Board of Trustees of the UU Church of Utica would like to announce that Paul Tenerowicz will be the President of the Board for the 2019-2020 church year. He will be addressing the congregation on Sept. 8th at our Water Ingathering service.

School Supplies Collection: July/August
Sanctuary Basket Collection - school supplies! This is the third year collecting for the children at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School. Notebooks, paper, binders, pencils, pens, erasers, pencil cases, crayons, markers, sharpeners, backpacks, rulers etc., are all needed to keep basic classroom supplies available for all children. This partnership with teachers/staff, who often purchase supplies for the classroom out of their own pockets, allows students to fully participate in classroom learning experiences. Your generosity and thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated by the staff and the kids. Let's help kickoff another successful school year. Together we make a difference!

Volunteers Needed for Rev. Erin's Installation. We are looking for volunteers to help with church decorations and food preparation for Rev. Erin’s installation service which will be held on October 5th at the church. If you are interested in either, please contact Kim Bywater, Jack Pendrak, or Brenda Sears for details. Please help if you can.

August/September sanctuary basket will be for home and school paper supplies; pens, pencils, pocket folders, calculators, home filing folders, organizing materials for students and adults. Our goal is to fill the basket.

We always collect non-perishable foods in the kitchen.
