WCEDA Presents 2013 Awards to Local Businesses

Elkhorn, Wis. – November 14, 2013 – At its Annual Meeting, Walworth County Economic Development Alliance (WCEDA) recognized the recipients of the 2013 Walworth County Small Business of the Year Award, the 2013 Walworth County Workforce Investment Award, and the 2013 Capital Investment Award.

2013 Walworth County Small Business of the Year

The 2013 Small Business of the Year Award recognizes businesses in Walworth County that demonstrate a commitment to the local community and a desire to grow in the region; helping to strengthen the local economy. This year’s award went to Allan Integrated Control Systems, an engineering firm based out of East Troy that designs and builds automated control systems for industrial as well as water and waste water treatment applications.

2013 Walworth County Workforce Investment Award

The Walworth County Workforce Investment Award recognizes employers that demonstrate a commitment to strengthening the local workforce through competitive wages, quality training and/or retraining, and contributions to and utilization of community resources available to them. Previous winners include HyPro Incorporated (2012), and Mercy Health System (2011).

The 2013 Workforce Investment Award went to Precision Plus of Elkhorn.  Precision Plus is an ISO 9001:2008 registered contract manufacturer of precision turned components, specializing in Swiss-type turning.  Precision Plus’s customers cover several industries including: electrical, military, aerospace, medical/dental, pneumatic/hydraulic, automotive, and industrial.

2013 Walworth County Capital Investment Award

The Walworth County Capital Investment Award was established to recognize companies for their commitment to strengthening our local economy through their investment in new jobs, equipment, and facility expansion.  This year, the Capital Investment Award was presented to Trostel for the two projects they have undertaken in Walworth County in 2013.

The first of project is located in Lake Geneva at their company headquarters; the second in Whitewater, home of their polymer compounding division. Trostel designs and manufactures custom seals and precision molded rubber products. The company’s products are used in various applications comprising automotive, agriculture, aerospace, construction, consumer goods, mining, recreation vehicle, plumbing, and more, in the US and internationally. 

These awards were presented at WCEDA's 2013 Annual Meeting on November 5 at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa.  

WCEDA is a membership-based organization consisting of both public and private sector members. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for Walworth County residents by working with both municipalities and businesses to advance efforts that create jobs and build private sector investment.
