Wednesday, October 27th, 2021
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM (Pacific Time)
This course is led by Stephanie Frischie and Corin Pease of the Xerces Society, who will discuss common soil invertebrates, their ecology and roles in soil health, scouting methods, and management strategies to increase beneficial soil animal populations.
Guest speaker Jennifer Aron of Blue Raven Farm will discuss results from a six-year ecological farming trial. Focusing on the farm's soil's health has increased crop productivity and has greatly reduced pests, diseases and weeds, while encouraging a plethora of beneficial insects. This presentation will share in detail the trials and tribulations they endured over the past six years as well as the remarkable success the farm has experienced as a result of their dedication to soil health.
