Cantata Sunday—one service.  What do you dream about at Advent and Christmastime? What do you hope for? Join us this Sunday, December 8, at 10:00 a.m. for a Christmas cantata of hope and promise as the Abiding Grace choir and orchestra present "Christmas Dreams," by Joseph M. Martin and Heather Sorenson. Invite your friends and family!
Advent Family Nights. Our first Advent Family Night is this Wednesday, December 4, with the theme "Spirit of Christmas." There will be a spaghetti dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. (last names beginning with A-L, please bring salads to share, M-Z bring bread). There will be an Advent worship service at 7:00 followed by a family activity from 7:30 to 8:00. This week we will be decorating Advent calendars. All are invited!
Prayer Vigil on Saturday. Please join us for a few minutes this Saturday, December 7, at our prayer vigil for Mission Freedom. We need prayer for our church’s future and for wisdom, peace, and discernment as we all consider how to share God’s blessings with others. There will be a quiet prayer room set up from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Sunday School building. On this historic day, we will also pray for peace for our nation and our world. And we will have journaling supplies, if you should be inspired to journal or write a devotional. We hope to see you there.
—Kim and Lisa, Your Mission Freedom spiritual committee
Angel Tree. We can make Christmas wishes come true for the children at our sister congregation, San Gabriel Lutheran Church in Alvarado. Please select a child or two from the Angel Tree located outside the Music Room. Then shop using the list provided, wrap, and return your presents by Sunday, December 15. The gifts will be delivered to San Gabriel prior to Christmas. If you have questions, please contact Lori Anderson.
Annual Advent Dinner & Variety Show is this Sunday, December 8, 5:00-8:00 p.m. The Abiding Dudes will smoke hams and fry turkeys again, the Fellowship committee will provide potato dishes and bread, and the rest will be a potluck. If your last name starts with A through M bring desserts, and N through Z’s bring veggies and salads. As a reminder, if you are participating in the Variety Show and your act requires any media (audio, video, or both), please contact Nick Tomlin by this Friday, December 6, so that the media will be ready.
