I am excited about Abiding Grace as we enter into the holiday season. We have been so blessed as a congregation, and you have been so willing to share. Last Sunday we had a joint meeting of the Church Council and the committee chairs. We have initiated this meeting on a quarterly basis to share ideas and to talk about things that might block their success. Your committee chairs work hard and do a great job. The one point that was made by all is the need for volunteers. If you want to help and be an active member, please let the chairs (listed in the front of the directory) know of your desire. It can be as a full-time committee member or for an individual activity. We will continue to publish what’s going on so you can become a part of the activities in the church.

Sunday, December 8, will be a big day, and it's coming up quickly. We will have one worship service at a special time of 10:00 a.m. featuring a Christmas Cantata by the choir and orchestra. It is also the day we ask you for your commitment to our Mission Freedom Campaign to reduce our mortgage. Please prayerfully consider your pledge to the Mission Freedom Campaign—we need your commitment for this to be successful. Please feel free to ask questions if you need additional information. December 8 concludes with the annual Advent Dinner and Variety Show with great food, fellowship, and fun!
—Tim Draney, President, Church Council
Thanksgiving Feast. Our friends at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irving have invited us again to help with their Community Thanksgiving Feast this Saturday November 23. Setup will begin at 10:30 a.m. with serving from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m. There are also opportunities to help prep food this Thursday and Friday, November 21–22. For questions, please contact Nick or Tonya Tomlin.
Advent Family Nights. Hey AGLC, our Wednesday Advent Family Nights are coming on December 4, 11, and 18. On the first Wednesday, we will make Advent calendars. The second Wednesday will be a Christmas cookie making night. For the third Wednesday, we'll have a movie trivia night (the winning family gets a $100 AMC movie gift card). Each Wednesday will include a themed meal with members bringing food. The dinners will begin at 6:30 p.m with Advent worship at 7:00 and the family activity from 7:30 to 8:00.
The Advent Dinner and Variety Show will be Sunday, December 8, at 5:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. There will be smoked turkey and ham prepared by the "Abiding Dudes" and potato dishes and bread from the Fellowship Committee. Attendees who last name begins with A–M are asked to bring a dessert to share and N–Z a vegetable side. For planning purposes, please sign up if are attending either at the Fellowship kiosk or online (please only sign up once). The dinner will be followed by a variety show. Whether you sing, dance, tell jokes, play an instrument, or putt well, we invite you to perform. Please sign up at the Fellowship Kiosk or online by November 30. If you have any questions, please contact Carol Court or Dee Rose.
A Children's Christmas Program, titled "Starry Night, Noisy Night," will be presented on Sunday, December 15, during the 11:00 worship service. The kids are busy learning the songs for the program during the Sunday School hour. If your child would like to join us, we would love it, and plenty of rehearsals are left. For more information, please contact Linnea Wolters. Note: there is no Sunday School this week, so the next rehearsal will be Sunday, December 1, at 10:00 a.m. in the Education Building. There will also be a rehearsal on Sunday, December 8, at 11:00 a.m. after the single 10:00 a.m. worship service.
Cantata Sunday.  What do you dream about at Advent and Christmastime? What do you hope for? Join us on Sunday, December 8, at 10:00 a.m. for a Christmas cantata of hope and promise as the Abiding Grace choir and orchestra present "Christmas Dreams," by Joseph M. Martin and Heather Sorenson. Invite your friends and family!
