New Member Sunday, October 21. Joining our church family only requires filling out a simple New Member Form available at church or online, but we would like to make a formal welcome to all new members at worship on October 21. That morning at 10:00 a.m., Pastor Nick will meet with new members in the church office building to help everyone get to know each other and learn more about Abiding Grace. There will be a luncheon at noon, too. If you would like to join please contact the church office and we will happily add you to the celebration!
Outreach bingo. Please join us for an Outreach event on Saturday, October 27, 10:30–11:30 a.m. We will be hosting Bingo at Meadowood Assisted Living, 4545 Merlot Avenue, Grapevine. It's going to be a howling fun time with lots of Halloween boos, ghouls, and goblins. We will be putting together Trick or Treat bags with prizes for the residents around 9:30 a.m. at Pat and Kenn Mingus' house, or just show up at Meadowood and enjoy helping out a resident find B-1. Please contact Karen Hurtado if you have any questions.
Faith reflections. Through the month of October, we will be filming members who are willing to share their faith stories. If you would be willing to share a 60- to 90-second faith story, please sign up at the Worship kiosk. Filming will take place in the church office between services. Please contact Pastor Nick with any questions.
GRACE cooking oil holiday push. Every year before Thanksgiving and Christmas, the GRACE Food Pantry distributes over 500 food baskets which include cooking oil. October is the month for our annual holiday push. The goal is 125 (48 oz.) bottles of oil. Watch for the poster in the narthex tracking our progress, and please help us reach our goal.
Trip to the Holy Land. A trip to the Holy Land is being organized for February 2020. There will be information sessions after both services this Sunday, October 14, in the sanctuary. Please contact Michael or Kathy Humen if you have any questions.
Photo directory. We will be putting together a photo directory for our members this fall. There are several ways to give your smiles. Karen Hurtado will be taking photographs after worship on Sundays. Family members who are not members are welcome in the photo. Karen can also take a photo of any printed picture you wish to use. You can also email a picture (square, 300x300) to Thank you.
Keyboard selections. Throughout the month of October, Roger will be playing a selection of preludes, offertories, and postludes inspired by Martin Luther, J.S. Bach, and other German music.
Care and Connection for college students. Do you have a son or daughter who is a college student? The College Care Committee wishes to include them in our prayers, send notes, and maybe send a package or gift card (depending on funds and participation). Please contact Karen Williams to provide your student's contact information or email it to the office. Many thanks! We look forward to supporting our college students and letting them know we care.
Reformation Sunday. On Sunday, October 28, we will celebrate Reformation Day with an interactive Luther walk during the Sunday School hour (10:00 a.m.). There will also be a quasi-German potluck lunch and family activity with Taylor after worship at Noon.
High schoolers! Mark your calendars for a bonfire night at the Harringtons' this Sunday, October 14.
Needed: Youth Committee volunteers. Our church is growing and so is our Youth Program. If you have a desire to help our youth on their journey of faith, have fun ideas for activities, and want to foster a loving, caring environment for the next generation, please prayerfully consider joining us! College age members are welcome on the committee. Bonus: meetings are once a month after church and are not long. If interested please email Taylor.
Team Piper is stepping up again this year to honor Curtis’ memory and Wage Hope at PurpleStride, the walk to end pancreatic cancer. PurpleStride supports the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network which is making significant strides to change patient outcomes. The walk will be Saturday, November 10, 7:30 a.m., at Klyde Warren Park in Dallas. You can make an impact by donating to or joining Team Piper.
