Organ Recital by Roger. Our organist and collaborative pianist, Dr. Roger Burnell, will be presenting a recital this Saturday, September 28, 12:00–1:30 p.m., at Calvary Lutheran Church in Richland Hills. It is part of the Celebratory Concert Series for installation of the new Redman Pipe Organ Opus 100 at Calvary. The program and reception are free and open to the public.
Mission Freedom! This past Sunday we began Abiding Grace Lutheran Church's "Mission Freedom" Capital Fund Appeal for Mission Freedom in 2020 and beyond! We have been blessed by God's abiding grace during our first ten years of ministry, and the wonderful gifts of our property and facilities will continue to be tools for ministry. We are grateful for your participation in our two previous capital campaigns to make this happen. The purpose of the Mission Freedom appeal is to substantially reduce or eliminate our mortgage debt so we can enhance our ministries in ways only God has imagined! So stay tuned for much more information over the next few months. We ask that you continue to pray for our church, our community, and our mission in this place.
First Bible classes for youth. There will be classes for youth (third grade and above) on two Sundays, October 13 and 20, to prepare for getting their first bible. We will learn how to use the bible, the stories, and what scriptures we need to look at for guidance in tough situations. The classes are 12:15 – 2:15 p.m., and lunch will be provided. Both dates are required, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Please contact Gary if you are interested in attending.
Women in Stitches. It is time to crank up the Women in Stitches craft group! We meet the second and fourth Thursday morning of each month at 10:00 in the Fellowship Room. Our first meeting will be this Thursday, September 26. You don’t have to know how to sew, knit, or crochet to be a part of this group. We have projects with ironing, cutting, or just plain, old-fashioned fellowship. There are numerous projects we'll discuss, and you can bring whatever you are working on, too: show-and-tell is how we all get new ideas. We hope to see you on Thursday, September 26, at 10:00 a.m.! If you have any questions, please contact Susie Henning.
Fall family event! Come to Abiding Grace on Friday, October 25, 6:30–8:00 p.m., for a Halloween party. We will have trunk or treat, game booths, and a haunted house. There will be prizes for the top three costumes and best decorated trunk-or-treat car or truck. If you plan to attend or wish to enter your vehicle in the trunk or treat competition, please let Gary know. Plan to join us for fun and fellowship!
NTNL Junior High Youth Gathering. A synod-wide event for all middle school youth will be held on Friday to Sunday, November 15-17, at Grace Lutheran Church in Carrollton. The theme for the gathering is “Where two or three gather in my name, I am with them," Matthew 18:20. All 6th–8th graders are encouraged to attend. Please contact Gary for questions and to register.
Tribute to Jim Blood Drive. The Carter BloodCare bus will be at Abiding Grace on Sunday, October 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., for our annual blood drive. We honor the memory of member Jim Fawks by donating the life-giving gift of blood to those who depend on it. You can sign up online. For questions, please contact Lori Anderson of the Outreach Committee.

Care and Connection for college students! Do you have a son or daughter who is a college student? The College Care Committee wishes to keep them connected by including them in our prayers and sending notes, a package, and gift card. Please contact Karen Williams with the address and contact information for your college student. We look forward to supporting our college students and letting them know that Abiding Grace cares about them!
School supply kits. This past Sunday, the confirmation Sunday School class partnered with Outreach Committee to assemble 24 school supply kits. Thank you to all of you who graciously donated school supplies during our August School Supply Drive. These kits will be sent to Lutheran World Relief, and then they will send the kits to countries around the world to kids in need.
Community Breakfast! Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irving is beginning an outreach of offering breakfast to neighbors monthly, and they are inviting Abiding Grace to partner with them. On the fourth Saturday of the month, we'll gather to cook breakfast and share it with our neighbors. Help is needed to gather the food, cooking, cleaning up, and eating with our guests. You can sign up online to help with the first breakfast this Saturday, September 28, at https://signup.com/go/CJPvTpA. For more information, please contact Pr. Kathryn.
Keep in prayer. Please keep the following people in your prayers: Sandy, Jeff, Arty, Dawn, Sarah, Tracy, Mona, Mimi, Shirley, Kaye, Davey, Mike, Arthur, Elenor, Charles, Jim, Elaine, David, Susan, Linda, Rich, Corbin, Chris, Tommy, Lindsey, Zach, Betty, Lorna, Chris and Kim, Ken, Amy, LaRue, Dusty, Debbie, Charles, Blake family, Jenni, Carl, Lorraine, and Joan.
