New worship schedule! To better balance the attendance between our two worship services and thereby accommodate continued growth, the Church Council is changing our Sunday schedule. Beginning with Rally Day, September 9, our new Sunday schedule will be
  • 9:00 a.m. Worship Service with Nursery
  • 10:00 - 10:50 a.m. Sunday School for all ages
  • 11:00 a.m. Worship Service with Nursery
Note that worship is still at 10:00 a.m. this Sunday (September 2), which then ends our summer schedule.
Rally Day in 12 days! We will be starting Sunday School on September 9 with Rally Day at the new time of 10:00 a.m. This will be a fun-filled day of activities, meeting teachers, and getting to know classmates. Registration forms will be available that day, but you can fill one out beforehand (available online). For questions please contact Taylor.
Grace Café begins this year with a Bratwurst Picnic for the congregation after worship on Sunday, September 16. Grace Café is led by Jesse Grimmer and Laura Hopkins and raises money for our youth programs. The youth especially enjoy the opportunity to learn new skills in the kitchen and the true meaning of having a servant's heart, too. While Jesse and Laura are still graciously continuing on with their tradition of preparing and serving these amazing dinners, we are in search of people who can host one or more dinners at their home. If you're interested or have questions please contact Taylor.
Story Time Hour. Groups of volunteers are forming to read books to the children staying at the Presbyterian Night Shelter of Fort Worth on Saturday mornings. The first two opportunities are Saturday, September 8 and 22 (9:30–11:30 a.m.). Please sign up at the Outreach kiosk. For questions, please contact Carol Court or Lori Anderson.
Endowment Fund. The Stewardship committee and Church Council have selected InFaith Community Foundation to establish an endowment fund at Abiding Grace. Chris Andersen, CEO of InFaith, will be here on September 9 during adult Sunday School at 10:00 to give a presentation on InFaith endowment funds and answer questions. Please join us.
Supper 4:6 is our dinner groups for six, seven, or eight people. Couples or singles can sign up. Groups of 6-8 members will be formed that meet several times in homes to share dinner (you can join in whether or not you wish to host a dinner). It's a great way to get to know more people in the congregation. Please sign up at the Fellowship Kiosk by September 23. If you have any questions, please contact Carol Court.
Adult Sunday School teacher needed. We are in need of an adult Sunday School teacher at 10:00 a.m. beginning September 9 (curriculum provided). If you can help, please contact Kenn Mingus.
Fall Bowling League sign-up. Abiding Grace will have four teams in the fall bowling league at Main Event in Grapevine. We bowl on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. beginning September 27. Sign up either at Main Event or online for the Thursday league with the team name "AGLC" (note: online sign-up requires prepaying for shoes—if you have your own shoes sign-up by phone at 817-416-1111). Once sign-ups are complete, four teams of six bowlers will be formed. If you have question please contact Nick Tomlin.
Cooking for Christ Cook-Off. Hosted by Thrivent Financial, the fifth annual cook-off will take place Saturday, October 6, from 10:00–3:00 at the Briarwood Retreat Center in Argyle. Cooking starts on Friday (October 5) at 3:00 p.m. A team from Abiding Grace will be competing, and tickets are available for $10 to sample the BBQ from the teams. Please see Jerry Court to sign up for the cooking team or for more information.
Church of the Damascus Road Golf Invitational. Hit the links to benefit the Church of Damascus Road. A fund-raising golf event will be held on Monday, September 24. Registration is at noon with golf beginning at 1:00 p.m. Cost is $75 per person, and there are sponsorship opportunities. Please contact Pastor Nick if interested.
Cooking oil for GRACE. Please don't forget our commitment of cooking oil (any type, 48 oz. bottles) for the GRACE Food Pantry. Recently, the AGLC donation of 4 bottles was immediately claimed by the families waiting in line to check out—no one else got oil that week. We are the only organization with an ongoing commitment to provide cooking oil. Thank you for your continued support.
Keep in prayer. Please keep the following people in your prayers: Samantha, Ron, Debbie, Alan, Jerry, LaRue, Gary, Pam, Lorraine, Berniece, Buddy, Darla, Piper family, Mishoe family, Brenda and Kelly, Joan, Virginia, Lara and Gabe, Sean, Gae, Peters family, Adam, Bria, Troy, Jett, Jillian, Melva, Corbin, D, and Roger.
