Vacation Bible School was last week, and the campers, ages 4-10, experienced a fun, God-filled week! Focused on Romans 12:2, they learned how to transform their communities through inclusion, compassion, justice, and forgiveness. The theme "Transform Community" was enjoyed by all. A video recap of VBS is available online.
The week was successful thanks to our Briarwood counselors and VBS volunteers. Our 16 volunteers, four adults and 12 youth, enthusiastically shared their time, talents, and faith to enable and enrich the learning experience for our campers. Thank you to all these volunteers with special thanks to the youth who, serving as Junior Counselors, were spiritual and uplifting disciples for our young children. The adult volunteers were Kristin Bergstrom, Jane Seris, Susan Canole, and Stephanie Henricks. The youth volunteers were Addison Bergstrom, Caroline Comer, Miriam Etheredge, Owen Etheredge, Pete Etheredge, Daniel Henricks, Peighton Kruzel, Sophia Lane, George Sakakeeny, Breona Swatsworth, Cris Schuetz, and CJ Womeldorph.

Additionally, thank you to Karen Hurtado and Joan Lucas for hosting our Briarwood counselors and to the following families who provided meals throughout the week: Andrew and Lindsey Baines, Ray and Susan Canole, Mark and Kristen Etheredge, Matt and Jennifer McCliment, Jeff and April Petersen, Tim and Kalai Schuetz, Tony and Jane Seris, and Craig and Laurie Womeldorph.
The annual Men's Group Dove Hunt will be September 13-15. Our men's group together with Calvary's will be meeting in Roscoe, Texas. This event is for all men 16 years old and above. We hunt four times: Friday evening, twice on Saturday, and once on Sunday. You can attend whatever fits your schedule. It is a great weekend to enjoy the outdoors and fellowship. Some men come out and do not even hunt, coming for the enjoyment and camaraderie. Cost is $40. Please contact Mark Etheredge or Jerry Court for questions and to sign up (please sign up by September 1).
Rick Steves, travel writer, TV host, and active ELCA lay person, will be a keynote speaker during the Perkins Fall Convocation at SMU on November 11-12. He will be giving three presentations, participating in a panel with the other two keynote speakers, and closing the conference with an extemporaneous session, "Rick Steves Unscripted." Registration is open—save by registering by July 31 and/or registering with another AGLC attendee. Details are available online. There is also a Monday evening only option for $15 per ticket to hear Steves present on the topic, “Travel as a Spiritual Act.”

Back to School Fair, August 9-10, supporting GRACE families. GRACE will be providing school supplies and clothing to families in need. They are asking for volunteers to help set up for the "Back to School Fair" on Friday, August 9, and to volunteer to work at the fair on Saturday, August 10. Please use the following link to see the various opportunities that are available: If you have any questions, please contact Lori Anderson or Debbie Kelley.
This Sunday Pastor Kris Totzke will deliver the message. Watch this video for an introduction.
Hi AGLC, as we get closer to the new school year I would love to form a Youth Ministry Team. I am looking for volunteers that I can vision and plan with. I need parents of all ages of youth: parents of birth through 4 year-old children, 5 to 11 year-old, 12 to 14, 15 to 18, and 18 to 24 year-old youth. We can have a dynamic Youth Ministry if we all work together. Please email Gary to be a part of this wonderful ministry team.
Fish Fry Watching Party. Join us for a fish fry lunch after worship on Sunday, August 11, to celebrate Lift Every Voice's recent performance at Carnegie Hall! We will watch the concert video in the sanctuary while we eat. We will have a potluck of side dishes and desserts for those who are able to bring a dish. See you there!
Holy Land Trip. There are a few places remaining in our group trip to Israel next February 2020. Deadline for deposits is August 1 with final payments due October 22. Please contact Michael or Kathy Humen at 817-773-6527 or email to for details.
