A new home for Veronica! What began during the Great Day of Service culminated last month when Abiding Grace, GRACE, the Grapevine Police Department, and Good Shepherd Catholic Church welcomed Veronica to her new home! First Bible classes for youth. There will be classes for youth (third grade and above) this Sunday and next, October 13 and 20, to prepare for getting first Bibles on Reformation Sunday, October 27. We will learn how to use the Bible, the stories, and what scriptures we need to look at for guidance in tough situations. The classes are 12:15 – 2:15 p.m., and lunch will be provided. Both dates are required, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Please contact Gary if you are interested in attending.
Oktoberfest. At noon on Sunday, October 27, we're having the party of the season! It will feature Jerry's famous brisket and sausage, live 70's and 80's rock by The 8tracks, a bounce house, a live auction, raffle prizes, pumpkin decorating, a costume contest, and more. Tickets are a suggested donation of $20 per person or $50 per family of three or more. Tickets will be available every Sunday after worship. It's going to be a rockin' time!
Youth Halloween party. Join us for a Halloween party for kids of all ages on Friday, October 25, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. We'll have Trunk-or-Treat, a haunted house, games, and a costume contest. See you there!
Boo Bingo. We will taking bingo to the residents of Meadowood Assisted Living Center, Grapevine, on Sunday, October 20, at 1:00 p.m. All ages are welcomed to attend, and feel free to wear costumes! Please sign up at the Outreach kiosk. If you have questions, please see Karen Hurtado or Lori Anderson.
Mission Freedom devotional workshop. Please join us for a devotional writing workshop on Sunday, October 20, at 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the office building. We will spend time in prayer and meditation and write devotionals together as part of our Mission Freedom campaign process. Come feel the Holy Spirit working with us. You may choose to share your devotional or keep it private.
New adult confirmation class. Beginning on Wednesday, October 16, at 7:15 p.m., Pastor Nick will begin a new weekly adult confirmation class in the Fellowship Room focused on Lutheran Theology.
Cooking oil for GRACE. It's time for the "October Rush" before the holidays. Each year the GRACE Food Pantry prepares over 500 food packs for Thanksgiving and Christmas in addition to regular support for clients. Cooking oil is included in these food packs. Our goal for the month of October is 200 48 oz. bottles of cooking oil (any variety). Please help us support those in need during the holidays.
Care and Connection for college students! Do you have a son or daughter who is a college student? The College Care Committee wishes to keep them connected by including them in our prayers and sending notes, a package, and gift card. Please contact Karen Williams with the address and contact information for your college student. We look forward to supporting our college students and letting them know that Abiding Grace cares about them!
Holy Land trip. A few places are available for the February 2020 Abiding Grace trip to Israel. If you wish to join us on this amazing journey. please contact Kathy or Michael Humen, Personalized Travel, for more information at personalizedtravelllc@yahoo.com or 817-773-6527.
PurpleStride DFW. Team Piper is participating in PurpleStride DFW on Saturday, November 9, to support the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. This organization is making significant strides to change the course of pancreatic cancer and patient outcomes. Watching Curtis battle this horrible disease was heart wrenching. Please consider donating online to the team or joining us at the walk.
Dove Hunt 2019. The Men's Group had a great weekend in mid September dove hunting which included lots of fellowship.
The Abiding Grace Men's Group was joined by men from Calvary Lutheran. This is a September tradition, so plan for 2020!
