"Simple Grace"

Since mid-October, I have been in a reflective mood, and the November winter storms, and December dreary days have kept me there.  I have had two years of changes, leaving a home of 20 years, moving to another state, being a grandmother, and continuing to create art , but I have not had much time to process these changes.  I had forgotten to slow down, and enjoy being.  I know you have not heard from me in a few months, but sometimes it is good to take time to rest.
The past few days the sun has graced this part of the earth with its warmth.   I was looking out a window at the trees in my back yard, and a cardinal flew unto a branch where I could see it.  Cardinals have been a part of my artist process since I began creating art, and when I saw this one it reminded me of the wonder of life, and how every journey has moments of contemplation, yet it is important not to stay there, but to take steps to enter into new creative explorations.

New Beginnings
A new year always brings with it change.
At the year’s end, we contemplate all
we have accomplished or did not accomplish.
In this reflection, we anticipate the future,
the possibilities, the adventures and actions
that we will bring forth from our creativity.
It becomes the year of possibilities, promises
and hopes.
We have a new beginning with new aspirations,
and a full year to fulfill them. How exciting!
Have a wonderful coming year!

I wrote this a few years back, but found it relevant to the coming of 2019,
and wanted to share it with you again.

Commission Art Piece

It is hard to believe that this year is almost over.  It sure has been full of adventures.  I have had many opportunities to teach this year, both here in my home town of Glen Carbon, Illinois, in Missouri, and in North Carolina.  It is always a wonderful to see the joy that people receive when they get creative.  I have also had many opportunities to exhibit my art at different venues, and create a few commissioned pieces this year. I am always grateful for the enthusiasm that my work inspires to others and myself.
In a course of a year, I am amazed  at how many people cross my path, and more incredible how each person touches my heart.  It is the small things that have a great influence on my life, like words of kindness, encouragement to continue creating, and the continual  love and support of my art.  All these things have been life altering experiences for me throughout this year and many years in the past!  Thank you for taking this journey with me, and hope we have many more to come!
