Video Pub Trivia - May 20, 8pm, The Woods Ale House, 148 2nd Ave N

In celebration of our month-long fundraising partnership with The Woods Ale House PAVED invites you to join us on Tuesday, May 20th for Video Pub Trivia!  Come on a quizzical voyage with host and Trivia Master Mark Ferguson as he guides us through a most unique pub trivia experience.  Loads of prizes!  $10 per team!  And don't forget, all month long a dollar from every pint of Ale House Bitter sold goes to PAVED Arts.

Stereo Malala opening reception - Keeley Haftner - May 23, 8pm

Stereo Malala is a multimedia sculpture consisting of a lit speaker displaying a stereoscopic 3D image of Malala Yousafzai, and projecting composite sound sourced from dubstep, electronica, and the Pakistani anthem.  A tribute to this remarkable young feminist that attempts to contend with the visual and aural onslaught of pop culture, the work stands as an investigation into interference, sincerity, impotence, and intentionality.

No Art in My Backyard: a discussion about public art - May 22, 7pm, Two Twenty Co-Working space, 220 20th St. W

A recent national dialogue has been sparked by a controversial piece of public art in Saskatoon.  Coverage regarding "Found Compressions One & Two" has brought various public art projects into question.  No matter our individual feelings, this dialogue around public art poses larger questions: Is public art a worthy priority for the city?  What value can it add?  Public art vs. patched potholes…can we have both?  Should public art raise questions and create debate?  How do we develop a cultural city?  Join us to discuss these questions and have your say.

Open Screen/Mic night - May 29, 8pm, The Woods Ale House

Join us as we open the mic and the screen up to the public for a one of a kind jam session that won't soon be forgotten.  Whether you play guitar or shoot videos with your iphone, all content is welcome.  This event is also a celebration of our month-long fundraising partnership with The Woods Ale House.  So come down and let's send the month of May out in style.

Adobe Youth Voices Workshop Submissions Deadline - June 15

This summer PAVED Arts is proud to partner with CIF and Adobe Youth Voices to bring a new chapter in our summer youth workshop programming.  "Neighbourhood Voices" offers young adults ages 13-18 the opportunity to learn from exciting artists and community leaders in the community while also gaining the technical skills related to photography and digital photo editing.  The goal is to create a dynamic creative environment for attendees to reflect on the Riversdale neighborhood and communicate their artistic vision through photo work.  Classes run on Monday afternoons from 11-2pm in July ending with a celebration and presentation of the work.  If you are interested in registering, know someone that might be, or just have a question, please email technical@pavedarts.ca before June 15th.

Members Fund - Registration deadline June 20

Let us support your project in one of the PAVED arts (Photography, Audio, Video, Electronic and Digital Arts)!  PAVED Arts members in good standing can apply to the production fund to receive $500 cash and a $750 rental equipment credit.  Projects will be assessed by a jury of 2 staff members and 1 artist from the community.  Members who have already received a Members Production Fund Award are ineligible.  For more information visit www.pavedarts.ca.
