Call for Pilot Project Collaborators
The US National Institutes of Health (NIH)’s BD2K (“Big Data to Knowledge”) program was recently launched in the US (link to BD2K Awards).  As part of the program, a Data Discovery Index Consortium was established to explore the requirements for the creation of a Data Discovery Index that will facilitate finding, accessing, sharing, using and citing data. The award for the Data Discovery Index Consortium grant went to Dr. Lucila Ohno-Machado of UCSD. The project has been named bioCADDIE and is charged with developing a specification and prototype for an NIH data discovery index.   More information is located at
FORCE11 will be leading the community engagement for bioCADDIE. This will give the community opportunities to provide input, volunteer on task forces, participate as pilot project collaborators, apply for pilot project funding and ensure that bioCADDIE aligns with and takes advantage of relevant efforts around the world.
A FORCE11 bioCADDIE Community Engagement group has been established and is open to anyone to join
There are also arrangements under way for a bioCADDIE Data Citation pre-conference workshop that will be held Sunday, January 11 at FORCE2015, information is forthcoming and will be posted here:
Please join the bioCADDIE FORCE11 Community Engagement Working group or visit to sign up for announcements.
