October Photo Recap

October was quite the month. SeattleDances hosted our first Dance CHAT (more on that later), and there were all kinds of things happening on local stages. Touring companies brought us Butohcontemporary ballet, and meditative performance art, while local groups presented wine-soaked bacchanalia, raging women, and chic jazz music.Velocity Dance Center also showcased their annual Made in Seattle program, while University of Washington hosted a plethora of activities for their 50th anniversary celebration including Chamber Dance Company's performance commemorating its 25th year.

A huge thank you to all who came to our first Dance CHAT last month! Jennifer Salk, as our facilitator, kept our conversations going strong, and topics ranged from the the role of the critic and descriptive vs. critical writing, to the desire for artists to have more support during and after their creative process. For more details read our October Recap.

The second Dance CHAT is next week, Tuesday, November 17, at 10 degrees. The November Dance CHAT facilitator will be Alia Swersky, local choreographer and Cornish Dance Department Faculty member. We couldn't be more excited to continue our conversations from last month and to discuss all of October's performances. We hope you can join us!

5:30-7:30 PM
10 degrees: 1312 E Union St.

Blast from the Past!

Local favorite Cherdonna Shinatra presented her first solo concert, Worth My Salt, last October at Velocity. Since then Cherdonna has performed her genre-bending work all over the city and recently received a Stranger Genius Award. In Worth My Salt, "Cherdonna’s movements, spoken words, and facial expressions explored how feminine physical beauty, sex appeal, self-doubt, self-worth, and self-actualization can all contribute to and combat gender inequality." Reminisce with our coverage from last year and see Cherdonna coming up as the Patron Saint of Velocity on November 13 at The Frye.

"Do you think this is easy for me?" Asks Cherdonna
