September Photo Recap

Fall is officially here, and that means the dance season is now in full swing. September brought us dynamic season openers from Pacific Northwest BalletVelocity Dance Center, and Whim W'Him, as well as independently produced performances by ENTROPY and Au Collective. Click the photos below to read our coverage.
Don't forget our inaugural Dance CHAT event is tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6, at 10 degrees. SeattleDances has teamed up with KT Niehoff to present Dance CHAT as an opportunity to have in-person discussions about the dance that's happening in Seattle. September was full of shows, and we want to talk about them with their choreographers, their dancers, and their audiences. We'll have a facilitator to help kick-start the conversation and provide some context for the performances of the past month. The first Dance CHAT facilitator will be Jen Salk, the chair of the UW Dance Program.

5:30-7:30 PM
10 degrees: 1312 E Union St.

This is a FREE event

Blast from the Past!

Last September, Portland choreographer Tahni Holt gave Seattle audiences a lot to chew on. Her work Duet Love brought issues of body image, gender, race, and relationships to the fore: "Ultimately, the power in Holt’s work lay in the way it used time to make a point, although 'the point' itself remained an open-ended question." Read the review to re-examine these issues or simply reminisce on this thought-provoking performance.
