June Photo Recap

June is always a big festival month in Seattle's dance calendar: On the Boards' NW New Works and Cyrus Khambatta's Seattle International Dance Festival span multiple weeks and grace multiple stages. We got to see some independent shows, too - both familiar and new faces - as well as myths on a grand scale.

News and Notes

  • We hope you can join us for Up For Review: A Community Workshop to Demystify Press Relations in the Seattle Dance Scene. SeattleDances is teaming up with Seattle Weekly dance critic Sandra Kurtz to host this informative community event on Saturday, July 18, 12-3 PM at 12th Ave Arts. We will discuss the relationship between choreographers/presenters and the media with speakers from local dance organizations and media outletsso if you are a choreographer, self-producer, or presenter, we hope to see you there. More information here.

Blast from the Past!

Sometimes a performance can get lost in the mist. It happens one time, and it defies boundaries and definition. If you blinked, you may have missed The New Animals' Ego Dismantled, a one-night dance-performance-installation at TMRW Party. Recently, you may have seen New Animals' artistic director Markeith Wiley in a (slightly) more traditional venue at On the Boards' NW New Works Festival this June.
