Currently, scientific research requires a high degree of excellence in terms of ideas to develop a research project , but also in terms of developing technologies and approaches to address these ideas. The implication of Technology Services within the network forming a research group is vital , as they have specific techniques developed by qualified personnel. In order to efficiently support the research groups the CIPF Cytomics Core Facility try to develop useful applications in different fields of Biomedicine to optimize the human and technological resources.

We will conduct a technical- scientific path through the equipment available in the Facility: Conventional Flow Cytometer Cytomics FC500, High Speed Cell Sorter MoFlo Legacy, Multiplexing Analysis System Luminex 200 and Image Analysis Platform InCell Analyzer 1000. We will show some relevant applications in the Biomedicine field, with particular emphasis on InCell Analyzer 1000 and Luminex 200. InCell Analyzer 1000 is an epi-fluorescence microscope able to quantify multiple fluorescence and morphology parameters simultaneously, from images captured in adherent cells. This platform helps to perfom semiquantitative assays in cell systems where is difficult or impossible detach the cells from the culture support. Moreover, we can improve the conventional flow cytometry experiments, because we can analyze the sub-cellular localization of the desired parameter. The automatization of this system allows us perform High Content Screening (HCS) Assays. Luminex 200 is a multiplexing system based in flow cytometry technology with ability to perform protein quantification experiments, DNA and PCR-based assays. This multiplexed technology allow us work with very small volume of samples, and in the case of protein quantification the system is able to quantify up 500 analytes per well. We can find multiple panels designed for oncology, cardiovascular, stem cells, toxicity, allergy, immunology, drug discovery, autoimmune disease,……… studies.
