We've made it to Medellín and are trying to get settled in!

Dear friends,

Just a quick note to let you all know that we've made it here safely and are starting the process of learning to live in a new place. We're thankful for your prayers and for all that the Lord has done to make things work out. To name a few: some special (though sad) goodbyes with friends, church, and family; vehicles that sold even though it was either snowing or raining for most of the time they were on the market; all our luggage and our dog made it safely through on the same flight with us, with nothing more complicated than a few slight delays; our team here greeting us and getting all our bags up to the third floor with no elevator; being able to register for our Colombian ID cards first thing this morning; and being able to get our cell phones up and running! And more. God has been so good to us through this all.

So, here we are, with the new sounds and smells and rhythms of life around us. Our temporary apartment has a basketball/soccer court directly across the street, and we're getting a great slice of normal Colombian life. Lord willing, in the morning we'll be worshiping with fellow believers and connecting with our team.
Kudos to Nate Bonham and John McCall for getting our luggage up these steep and unforgiving stairs!
Thanks so much for your prayer, encouragement, and support!

Que Dios los bendiga abundantemente.

With love,

Steve & Amy

Steve: As International Director for the Americas, I give leadership and pastoral care to our missionaries as we seek to spark national church planting movements throughout the Americas. We are working together to see Christ’s Church established and strengthened so that the gospel of his kingdom will advance through all the world.

Amy: As a missionary, I serve to show Jesus' love to all, to the end of reaching the lost for him and equipping them in his service. I do this in partnership with Parakaleo and with counseling studies through Colorado Christian University.

Please pray for us in this mission!
Please pray for these requests:

Getting to know a new culture: We've now lived in Mexico and Chile (and I spent half a year in Spain back in the 90's). There's a lot of overlap, but also a lot that is different. Pray that we can understand and love Colombians for who they are and not in comparison to people from other places. And for us to avoid cultural assumptions from our experience elsewhere.

Looking for a vehicle: We'll be in the market for a car. They are ridiculously expensive here (the money from selling two cars in the US won't buy the equivalent of one of those cars here), so we'll be looking at something fairly old. Pray we can find something in good condition that will be of great use in kingdom service.

Housing: We're in temporary housing for this month, and we'll be starting our search for something more permanent in the next week or so. Pray that the Lord would lead us to the right place for us to be able to fulfill the calls he's giving to us.
