Join author Karl Marlantes’ discussion on his books: "Matterhorn: a Novel of the Vietnam War" and "What It Is Like to Go to War"

A graduate of Yale University and a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, Karl Marlantes served as a Marine in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Navy Cross, the Bronze Star, two Navy Commendation Medals for valor, two Purple Hearts, and ten air medals. He is the author of the New York Times Bestselling novel, “Matterhorn: A Novel of the Vietnam War”, which won numerous prizes, including the William E. Colby Award given by the Pritzer Military Library, the Center for Fiction’s Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize, the 2011 Indies’ Choice Award for Adult Debut Book of the Year, and the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation’s James Webb Award for Distinguished Fiction. He is also the author of the highly acclaimed nonfiction book “What It Is Like to Go to War”.


CGCC Foundation Winter/Spring Term Scholarship Application
You can find the electronic copy of the combined winter and spring term scholarship application available now online (fillable or non-fillable) on the financial aid/scholarship page or in hard copy format in Student Services. The online application will remain open now through Noon on Thursday, November 20, 2014. However, Student Services must receive your completed application by Noon on Thursday, November 20, 2014.

Federal Work Study Position Openings

CGCC currently has several openings available for work study employment beginning Fall and Winter terms. You may qualify for a position if you:

  • Have unmet need.
  • Enroll in at least 6 credits each term of employment.
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy standards every term. Read more.

Holiday Wreath Phi Theta Kappa Fundraiser
You Phi Theta Kappa is getting read for the holiday season. The chapter has had a lot of success with the Holiday Wreath Fundraiser and has chosen to do it once again. These wreaths are beautiful, long lasting, handmade in Troutdale and friendly to the environment. Read more. 


CGCC ITS Computer Sale
The Information Technology Services department at Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC) will be selling computers and projectors to the public at steep discounts on November 21st from 8:30 am - 12 pm. All of the items in the sale were used by CGCC staff, faculty or students and have been taken out of rotation this year. Read more.

Friday, 9:00 am - Noon

Monday - Thursday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
