“Holiday Lunch Meeting & Changing of the Guard”

December Luncheon Recap

We had pretty good crowd for our annual Holiday Lunch & Changing of the Guard meeting; due to a mix up with the hotel we did not have our traditional open bar a pre-meal reception. We were all a little disappointed and plans are already in place to hopefully avoid a mistake next year…

Our 2015 scholarship winners Elizabeth Nadelman from Georgia Tech ($5000 Robert H. Kuhlman Award) and Abby Caballero from University of Georgia ($2500 Lagrit F. “Sam” Morris Award) gave us a short presentation of some of their recent work.

Elizabeth showed us some very interesting data on surface resistivity testing of binary and ternary concrete blends, the test method looks to show promising trends for measuring SCM relativity in concrete mixtures. Abby gave us an update on some exciting changes taking place in the relatively new College of Engineering at UGA and presented a summary of her senior design project, the replacement of the Garretts Ferry Bridge in Chattahoochee Hills, GA. A copy of each presentation is attached.

Our new officers for 2016 were announced:

  • Vice-President – Wayne Wilson
  • Secretary – Nadia Groome
  • Treasurer – Ralph Hodgins
  • Two new 3 year term (2016-2018) Board of Directors:
    • Leif Owens
    • Bill O’Hora
Incoming President Wilbur Bragg also thanked our 2015 President, Angela San Martin, for her service and presented her a plaque of appreciation for the Chapter.
